Stellar Gold

I will soon be getting a new Dac to replace my SGCD with. am I best getting another Matrix SPDIF to take the USB and convert it to i2S, or just use the USB?

What are you planning to get to replace the Stellar Gold DAC?

If it’s going to be the PMG 512 then

No need to add another link in the chain. Use the USB with a good cable. Done

Maybe I should be more clear
I have a Stellar Gain Cell Dac at the moment and replacing it with the Gold

This helps a great deal.

Ah. I don’t have any experience with that DAC. I would think you’d have to listen and see what you think. My approach is; if I experience a repeatable noticeable difference , I like, it’s worth the change.

I replaced my gain cell dac with the Stellar gold dac. The improvement was not small. At a later time I added the Airlens. I run Roon and use the I2s connection. This worked out well for my living room system. I connected my Flat screen tv to the DAC with toslink. I think I’m set for a while.

I reckon I have had my Gain Cell for about 5 years now, so going for a change. I like the “house sound” of it, was thinking of going for the Gustard X30, but there are only couple of UK dealers, and read all the reviews of the PS unit and it comes out better, so waiting for the demo unit to get to my UK dealers, home trial it,but will prob buy one anyway

I should have added that the DAC is connected with balanced cables to my Stellar s300 amp feeding a pair of Reference 3a grand veenas. -No preamp in the chain. Subwoofer is a maybe.
