Stellar Strata Amplifier?

What’s up with the horsebeater’s pants?

It is the stick’s shadow.

Just talking, joshingly, about the green, pants-portion. Looks like he’s standing in a large double-stemmed wineglass. : )

Apologies for any offense🤠

What’s all this about beet tests?

There’s a dCS video of a bank of test equipment that they had to design themselves as previously it did not exist, on which every unit made is tested for days on end. It’s a proper industrial burn-in, i.e. test to the point of destruction. Anything else is a compromise.

Please stop beeting this subject into the warming, spring soil, as it may grow into something we don’t want.

Unsure if your dCS reference is a joke or not. Are you cool with the additional cost on PS Audio products that methodology would incur? ; )

That beet/potato pic is triggering my Trypophobia…

So PS Audio sends it’s customers a newsletter (PS Audio February, 2020 Newsletter) in which the CEO of the company dedicates 2 paragraphs to beta testing.

And then in PS Audio’s forum, people who cared to read that newsletter are not supposed to ask questions about it?

That beta testing for/with or at PS Audio really is: an interesting marketing strategy.

Sheesh Rudy - you and Elk need to hash this out.

Because you guys represent the poles of the extremes of this non-issue.

A non-issue indeed.

Again, please read my post here, concentrating on the following: “[W]e need to be respectful of whatever course they [PS Audio] take and let them decide what information is shared and when.”

As Badbeef additionally noted: “I do get the sense Paul is trying to not overshare so much or so early, because it can bite you in the butt.” See, here.

Accordingly, please do not push Beta testers to discuss their work. Once PS Audio is ready to share, they will. I expect we will hear something from Paul once Beta testing is concluded.

The newsletter states “March and April are the months we will be beta testing two new Stellar products: the 1.2kw monoblock monster amplifier, the M1200 and the super exciting all in one Strata.” Thus, it will be a bit before there is anything to share.

As before, please PM me if you feel a need to keep discussing this.

This is like the Monte Python show: “I didn’t start talking about beta testing, it was announced in the PS Audio February 2020 newsletter!” :zipper_mouth_face::wink:

If information comes out in the newsletter that is supposed to drive our interest in particular products, why would anyone think that we as a community are not supposed to look for more information? I’ve been waiting for the Strata integrated and am also curious as to the progress of the beta testing. It’s not rude, disrespectful, breaking the rules, etc. to ask how it’s going. If that’s the way it is, I’m out of here. This p… contest started with an member being admonished for asking the same question I was going to ask. The response was rude to that member. End of story.

Bernie Leadon would say, as we rolled into another town, “Here we are in Generica again.”

Excellent line.

Looking forward to Strata!

I am bit surprised considering its networking ability that Roon Ready wasn’t included unless it was in deference to PSAudio’s forthcoming Octave server? But, then somewhat puzzled to read Strata will not support Octave? Besides Tidal and Qobuz I think Roon is right up there as an audiophile favorite?

Of course one can add Roon support with a $35 Raspberry Pi running https://ropieee.org/ so it is not an insurmountable problem but an extra step?

I wonder about Octave server plans? PSAudio would be wise to release a Raspberry Pi distro for the client like Ropieee or some other RAAT client. I have to assume that the Octave server is based on some derivation of a Linux distro? I hope PSAudio embraces openness with Octave? Going all proprietary will relegate it to a niche product. Please consider providing both a self contained Octave distro that can run on a NUC like Roon does with their Roon Core distro. Also consider versions that can install on popular NAS products such as QNAP and Synology. The Plex model is something to emulate.

Thanks.

I would also be completely puzzled if PS Audio decides to exclude the Strata from Octave. They indeed kind of said so, but It is so odd that I find it hard to believe.
