Is expensive noise still noise?
Here is a copy of Windom.

Itās cleaner then the entry level noise.
Sunlight is another amazing upgrade - thank you PS Audio! More detail, lower noise floor provides amazing level of air and space between instruments, more real - allows more emotion.
Hugh Masakela - HOPE SACD; Bob Dylan - More Blood More Tracks! Just starting!
Bruce, yes - In fact, Iād be interested in a 1st vs last in-depth review. If only to satisfy my curious / skeptical nature. But Iāve got to say:- Regardless of the outcome, the DS Snr [IMHO] is the best ever (till date) component from PS Audio. The P10 and now the P20 earns a close second place in my book
Chris Jones maybe?
Multiple clocks arenāt an issue inside an FPGA (Well, they are but not in the way that most might think.) The final clockās rate is more or less set by the hardware. There are actually more clocks in the DS and they are used to make it sound better. I just listed the three main frequencies. In the Mk II I will be starting things off at the high rate above listed, but for a small section of the code Iāll probably need a clock thatās 1/4 higher than that. The TSS will require more clocks to do its job. There is something to be said for having one clock, and I would (and will) if I can. But so far, things sound better with multiple clocks.
Thanks, didnāt catch. Made correction.
Donāt know if anyone else has noticed this, but with SUNLIGHT the DAC does not trigger my tinnitus nearly as much as it did before, AND it sounds better⦠A win-win⦠Thanks Ted!
My tinnitus always goes down with lower noise and less distortion. But there are a lot of possible sources of tinnitus.
I thought thatās what you meant, that you were looking for low-level material in the recordings. But then I got worried that I misunderstood. I also thought, for a moment, that the Crickets had left Buddy Holly and were performing with a new singer.
I had my worst tinnitus in years when I went to bed last night and itās still a bit elevated this morning. But maybe thatās not surprising since I was exploring Sunlightās qualities with some very loud tests after dinner. It sounded awesome.
At times listening too loud kills off my tinnitus for an hour or two. Clearly not a sustainable strategy
So many new delights listening to music via Sunlight. The bass is so much more textured, detailed and articulate. Also hearing subtle new sounds across the entire frequency spectrum that were previously buried in the noise floor.
On Stevie Ray Vaughanās Tin Pan Alley, AKA Roughest place in town, I heard for the first time what sounded like a car horn go off in the back ground.
I replaced my balanced out interconnect with a silver version of the same manufacturer
about 1 week before Sunlight release. I didnāt find any excessive brightness at all with the
2 new variables. Just more air and spatial imaging and detail. It should get even better when
all is broken in. Ted is the batting champ, another hit out of the park.
I do not hear the excessive brightness that some have indicated with this Sunlight. What I do hear is cleaner highs with more of the body that the instrument is struck and more air on the decay. The frequency response has not change, but there is more micro detail so the instruments sounds more complete, probably due to a lower noise floor. Overall resolution is higher with Sunlight. It did sound better on the second day, maybe due to my ears adjusting to the added detail I am hearing. What this Sunlight wonāt do is make a bad recording with excessive dirty highs more listenable. It will make those highs cleaner, but still unlistenable. A bad recording is still a bad recording. But on good recordings, I really have never heard my system sounded so good!!
Buddy left them, then they spent some time with Bobby Vee.
What app is that screenshot from?
PST+DSDAC in my system, I seem to hear the percussion more clear.
Maybe this is similar to
sunlight is like software in a car engine. we should not hold him responsible for everything. All the components of the system and the compatibility of these components are important.
