Still 92 in the Sr.
tanx
Iām pressing my hands together and bowing in thanks to Ted. Every album reveals more than Iād heard before:
Solo violin: Bach Violin Sonatas and Partitas played by Podger, Hadelich, and Hahn all reveal more details of their instruments and styles. All three are uncannily present.
Jazz: Iād never appreciated how much DeJohnetteās percussion contributes to Jarrett Trioās Bye Bye Blackbird.
Orchestras, old and new: Les SiĆØclesā new Symphonie Fantastique reveals wonderful separation and distinctness of 19th c. orchestral instruments. Remaster of the old Munch/Boston RCA Living Stereo version reveals even more dynamism (and bombast), with the violinsā slightly glazed tone tamed.
DSD256: Handelās Concerti Grossi by Akademie fur Alte Musik Berlin were recorded in too resonant a venue, but Sunlight helps to sort out individual instruments that had seemed lost.
It sounds like my DAC has been replaced by a whole new component. Everything is more enjoyable with Sunlight shining through it.
(Roon, Matrix, DSD, Pathos, Utopias.)
Thank you PS Audio and @tedsmith for Sunlight. Now I can play the DSD256 albums I bought without Roon downconverting it to DSD128.
Like this one.
I thought USB is still limited to DSD 128? At least that is what the default said when I installed Sunlight.
I use the I2S input of the Directstream DAC with this.
Understood
Will this connect between my Mac Mini USB port out to the DS I2S port? Is there a noticeable difference in sound using this instead of Bridge 2?
Ted, why is 92 considered to be the optimal volume for DS senior?
Everything has changed for the better: Treble bass, Sound stage, speed, thickness of sound. Wonderful. Thanks PSaudio, you are great
Listening to the Reference Music SACD from The Audiophileās Guide over the I2S on the DS Memory Player: The Sunlight offers a very noticeable depht in the soundstage. This is truely amazing. The transmogrifcation synth composition has a new heft both in deep bass and in the low mids. Going to the next track with Jessica Carson, Iām definitly not Ā«unsatisfiedĀ». Thank you for a great update Ted and PS Audio!
Nope. One notch higher on either volume or crossover point made the subs intrusive.
I listened an hour past bedtime, just blissing out.
Snappier transients stole the show at first, but inner detail won the evening. You can just listen in deeper now.
With all the firmware versions Iāve heard the ticks prior to playback anytime I switch from PCM to DSD. Both have to be processed differently at the front end, but wasnāt sure if the ticking was more hardware related than firmware related depending on what was going on under the hood.
Iām not sure. Send a message to the manufacturer. They can assist.
Sounding better and betterā¦canāt tell if it is breaking-in or Iām just appreciating it more and more as I play various discsā¦ remarkable achievementā¦
All loaded up without a hitch (DS DAC). First impressions playing Shostakovich 7 & 9 are very impressive. Superb definition across the wide range of instruments in these works.
Yes, improvement to Bridge II sound was remarkable.
So basically with the Sonore Ultradigital you are going āUSB inā and converting to I2S and connecting to the DSD Sr. I2S input. Where is your source material coming from (laptop)? Would be curious to know how you configured it. In my current configuration I am using two Sonore Optical Deluxe Modules to connect fiber optic cable between my NAS and my DSD Sr. via the bridge II. For me this dramatically improved the sound quality of my streaming via Roon which is probably due to the intrinsic galvanic isolation of a low jitter optical signal. Obviously with that configuration I cannot process quad DSD.
This is the Sunlight sound thread.
Please PM @Leonard directly or post this in one of the many Sonore threads.
I am trying to keep the two Sunlight threads from going off the rails in less than 24 hours.
Thanks!
