The Sound of a PerfectWave System

Just a reminder, PS Audio’s PerfectWave System sounds wonderful. Thank you for years of good music!

THAT is a humdinger of a positive statement, and I was happy to read it.

I tried a couple times over the last 10 years or so to build a 4-channel SACD-playback system using a Memory Player, a 1st-gen. PSA DSD DAC, and a less-expensive Stellar DAC, but even after I had a separate, analog, multichannel preamp, I just never had the…drive? desire?..to complete it. Had my pre/pro had multichannel analog inputs, I would have, but it doesn’t so I don’t.

Always two-channel here. And for me, this is as good as it gets!

No complaints on my end. The system I currently have far exceeds anything I dreamed of having. Can’t say I’m finished, would like to upgrade a couple of things, but if this were to be my pinnacle, I’d be happy.

I traded my big fancy McIntosh MC1502 tube amp for my PSA stack almost a half a year ago and am still blown away at the PS Audio system. Feels like I stole it. These systems represent tremendous value now as they sound absolutely killer.

When the new PS Audio gear came out, I get that people wanted to upgrade, but the existing stuff still sounds fantastic. It represented good value for very high quality sound when it was new and sounded wonderful when you were fortunate enough to put together a full PS Audio stack. Today, it still sounds just as good but can purchased for what feels like theft. What you can buy a DSD MKI for now is nuts. The thing is still impressive in my book. I know there is better now, but comparing a DSD to another $1K dollar DAC is simply mean. It is like comparing the voice of Aretha to Yoko whale noises or whatever that was. It is still a very very nice DAC, just no longer priced like it. Sure, I’d love a new PMG DAC, but my gear does not sound any worse now that it is out.

I was too dumb to pick up on this when I was younger, but when something newer and better comes out, the old thing I used to dream of is still something worth dreaming about. That stack you have a photo of is a dream system. Glad you are still enjoying it.
