Theoretica Applied Physics BACCH

,

After looking at my flight case it appears to have hooks on the end for an over the shoulder strap. Mine came sans the strap.

We couldn’t take it anymore, we just upgraded from BACCH4MAC Intro to the Audiophile w/ ORC version.

Praying for an early Christmas present! :sunglasses:

That could work.

That’s great news Steve! I’m sure you won’t be disappointed :+1:

Looking forward to it, but really looking forward to Edgar’s Optimal Room Correction (ORC).

Hopefully it will be in beta when we get our BACCH4MAC Audiophile system.

Thank you,
Steve08226

What a great deal, to be able to upgrade at anytime and get 100% credit for prior purchases!

We are all for best bang for the buck and this fits in nicely.

Just our thoughts,
Steve08226

I have my Bacch4Mac up and running and configured properly. All is well. What an interface!

By the way, the mono correction function works backwards on the b4m. Farther right, boo. Farther left, mmmm. Karaoke mode is a hoot.

(I am so amused that the Head Tracking cam got a picture of me taking a picture of a computer screen)

Just like what we did for the PS Audio Directstream DAC Mk II, traded in the Mk I version. PS Audio offers a great trade in value!

I am really looking forward to your reactions when you get the b4m!

The ironic part of all of this is just with the intro version (along with the PS Audio Directstream DAC Mk II) we are getting the best sound we ever had. My wife and I say for the money how can this get better.

We have the B4M Audiophile w/ ORC version coming, and we are getting closer to receiving the Decware Sarah 300b amp we ordered over two years ago.

This should be an exciting next few months!

Okay, weird scenes in the gold mine.
Edgar called tonight. Always a nice thing. He wanted to run me through the BACCH headphone setup with head tracking. You know how headphones sound, all in your head. When I made the BACCH headphone filter, Edgar said now I am going to play it through your headphones, no filter, then through your speakers with the filter. Except he lied, he played it through the headphones with the filter and I swear to God it sounded exactly the same as listening to my system with speakers. Full correct soundstage, depth, exactly like listening without headphones. Quite utterly impossible and yet.

So now I have a choice between disturbing the bunny or rocking out completely without making a sound. Good lord! I never tried this with my adio. What a toad! This means I can listen to my entire system with only the Grimm MU1 and the BACCH4Mac, everything else powered down, And since he loaded that up with music, I don’t even need the Grimm. So odd. Same sound but with all that gear off. Once the B4M did its more extended room sampling, it had all it needed to negate the need for the rest of the gear. This suggests that I could bring the B4M to your house and steal a copy of your sound. Or play you mine? Good lord! I can transport my system in a small attachĆ©? Hmmmmmm.

Then things got rough. We decided to make a new number one filter and when we got done the xtc plot looked awful. We compared it to the one we made two days before. What did you change? The DAC. Well something is really wrong with it. So I switched from the newly added DAC to the one inside the BabyFace Pro. I made another filter, and sure enough the noise and distortion gone. What the heck.

When I use the Gryphon Ethos DAC, the one I was using when we made the first filters, I can only use it as DAC. I select the (Gasp) USB input. Works great. But if I wish to play a CD I select the CD input. Now it is not being a DAC that the BACCH can use. Bah. But if I have a different DAC, I have the CD Transport AES/EBU transport out connected to the Grimm MU1 which feeds into the BACCH. So like the Grimm MU2, I can use it as a streamer, or a DAC, not both at the same time. BACCH’s fault. I accept this.

That this new DAC messes up the signal is a huge surprise. I am going to do a factory reset on it and see if that solves the issue.

Science, it’s a problem.
So much to ponder.

Headphones on BACCH are truly incredible. I ā€œruinedā€ the surprise element with Edgar as I had read a review earlier that clued me in on what to expect. Nonetheless, as you know, it is very impressive! If I’m listening to my speakers and my wife needs to get on a call in the adjacent room, I go to the HP mode and I’m back to listening to ā€œspeakersā€ (with plenty of BACCHness) rather than the conventional headphone experience.

Sorry for any limitations you may be experiencing with your gear’s DAC/streamer functionality with B4M. The only limitation I’ve encountered is that, as hard as I try, I have been completely unsuccessful convincing myself I have any use for an AirLens…

No need for that device.
I am only have ā€œtroubleā€ due to my favorite DAC is also a CD Transport. It’s not so much a problem as it is a feature. I have ways to deal with it.

A few minutes ago I put an SBooster plus Ultra into the BabyFace Pro. That seemed to step thing up a bit. A magical 3M strip is next. Fuses, na, I don’t need no stinking fuses.

Having a great time with the BACCH4Mac. The input options and the Internal DAC in the adio are missed. But the sound is awesome!

This BACCH stuff seems nice.

Has your ADIO upgrade been completed? I’m curious how the ADIO, with the latest upgrades, compares to the B4M. I’m encouraged that the SBooster has proven to be a worthwhile improvement. I haven’t tried messed with the stock BabyFace Pro as yet but I believe it would be less expensive than a new ADIO. Have you done any of the Mac Mini mods that have been suggested by some folks?

The remote power supply for BabyFace FS pro improves the mini since it takes load off the mini having to supply power to the BFP along with the mini.

Here is what BFP manual says.

Here is BFP specs for input power

The quality of DC Ower Cord matters too. I use the Ghent Gotham with 5 shields to eliminate RF and EMI messing up the DC Power.

I still don’t see a mention of what voltage to use for the DC In. I am using 9v at the moment.

I read it eould take 9 to 12. Spec sheets give 12V. So I upped my HDPLEX 300 awhile later.

I actually haven’t shipped it out yet. Nothing is going to get done in the next 10 days, but I will ship it soon. Not the best time to ship something, 'Tis the season to wait.

I am stunned by the sound of the DAC in the BabyFace Pro. It is easy to listen to.
For the Mac Mini I have the replacement internal power supply and a hella-strong power supply. I am not going to install them until my adio returns upgraded. When that happens the adio goes bacck in the main system and the B4M comes into my computer lab. When I have both present I’ll do the power mod. I just want to have both here in case something goes wrong. I do not wish to be Bacch-free.

The excellent thing about the B4M is it all packs into a nice case for easy transport. So I can bring it up to my cabin and use it there. Then bring it home with me.

The B4M could be enough for anyone. The adio’s main advantage is the many quality inputs and the excellent internal DAC. It is for a person who wants to listen and be at ease about what is under the hood. The B4M’s main advantages are they get the upgrades first, they are easier to upgrade, and you get to play scientist if that is your thing. It appears to be my thing.

Interesting. It works swell with 9v, perhaps better with 12?
I have SO MANY POWER SUPPLIES!

I never did same song snippet the A to B voltage on voltage to BFPS. The HDPLEX 300 warns not to switch voltage when powering other equipment do it had to be powered off and it is a long reboot for my i5 core.

But It seemed increasingly better every tweak. USBs, LPSs, DC Power cords, Sorbothane isolators sized right, and then the 3M absorber with PS DS mk2. It goes from seems nice to Holy Cow what images with the additive tweaks.
