That sounds useful, it does work for burn in?
@softligt64 It works for me. I have learned the hard way that I canât ignore music that I like when I am trying to break in gear so I play stuff that wonât make me sit down and listen. I have never been a casual listener.
The PMG has about 150 hours with roughly 120 on silent burn in. Itâs easy to hear the progress, though of course not all changes are for the better. Overall the improvements keep coming and the setbacks donât last very long.
I should have said amps on standby not off.
Good to know, thanks.
This happens to me too. Many years ago, I realized that I was OK playing music while driving as long as there was light traffic and I wasnât in a metropolitan area. But if I got into a situation where I really needed to focus on the road, it was much better if I turned the radio off. Part of my brain just didnât seem to be available if the music kept going.
Yeah, same here only I never listen to music or anything else while driving. I try to be 100% about driving safely.
A noble viewpoint. I often drive with the sound system off. I love to hear the engine and tires of my Juke NISMO.
@lonson Same here. I prefer to listen to the sound of the engine behind me especially when I am accelerating.
I also find I must listen and pay attention to any music I hear. It is involuntary. Thus no music while driving or when I am thinking through a problem or have another need to concentrate.
Itâs a mystery to me how folks can read with music playing.
I wonât use the radio for normal short driving. There are way too many pedestrians and vehicles that distractions are not desirable, plus, need to hear the engine and exhaust note. But for long distance highway driving, need music, as well as snacks.
I listen to NPR.
I donât get as âdistractedâ with music playing while I am doing something else if it is purely instrumental and it has somewhat limited dynamic range.
I love to practice putting on green in front of my system, then I read some lying on the couch. I usually wake up while music is still playing. That is a good routine for me lately. But it is not safe with whiskey in hand. Occasionally I was woken up by the noise when the glass landed on the floor.
So many people I knew in college would have music playing while they studied. I simply could not do this â I thought I was unusual, but apparently not so much based on comments here.
I could if the project were easy, such as writing a chem lab report. But if it took concentration music was a distraction and more interesting.
That is precisely what I do when reading. The music is playing at a reasonable level and very few vocals and theyâre usually in a language I donât understand.
This is easy for me. I do not listen to lyrics. Voice is just another instrument.
Understood but for me that doesnât work if the lyrics are in English â I find it distracting when Iâm reading.
Hey guys this has taken an obviously interesting turn based upon the number of comments and probably deserves its own thread. Since the PMG pre is so new ,I am pretty sure there are folks who would like to hear more from those who have already purchased one.
As a consumer, I value others opinions on something I am considering purchasing but find it frustrating when I have to wade through a thread that has gone way off topic for the information I am interested in.
