Tubulus Concentus I2S cable and DS Mk2

For those not wanting to spend on a AQ Dragon or Firebird a Tubulus I2S was listed at TMR

Better than RAL, you think…?

TIA

Hi,

i want to buy a new DAC - the PS Audio DAC MK2. I own the PST and want to use the Concentus I2S to the new DAC.

In the forum now I see an incident with this connection and my new future DAC MK2.

“the red light issue caused by pin 19 not being connected.”

Another problem are the screws for Mkll l2s port that insures a tight fit.
“Thinner heads for the I2S connectors on the back of the Mk2 are necessary”

Have you already heard about this and do you have a solution?
Last question. Is it a problem to use a 1.5m length instead of 0,75m with the Concentus?

Thanks in advance,
Jozef

I understand that Tubulus has now addressed the issue of the red light on the DS MK2 by connecting pin number 19, which was not used in the original design. So a recent cable (last few months?) should be OK.

If you are ordering a new one, you can ask them to modify the connector to fit the large screw heads on PS Audio gear. But not everyone likes the look of this.

If you want to change the screws, it’s easy. You need wafer head screws; see this post for the right size.

Welcome to the forums. I never used the Tubulus. I was and AQ Dragon 48 guy! No issues with one of those.

For anyone who’s interested, I completed my sonic evaluation of the previous version Tubulus Concentus I2S with the new v2 that has the extra wire for the DS MkII indicator. To my ears there is no difference between the two, so if you have and like the v1 and don’t really care about the lightie thingie then the v1 is a keeper.

Same problem with my Tubulus Concentus I2S, worked fine with red light (never green). Ordered AQ Firebird 48, that plays with green light. Also have PS SACD transport & DS MK2. AQ definitely has a tighter fit.
