We know, it needs 4 feet's from the back wall of the speakers, but how many feet's to the side wall?

Once a year, I re tune my listening room.

I get rid of the clutter that accumulate: Lp’s that I don’t like; component that I listen again and put for sale; loudspeaker I have build, but that I try again to improve; Magazine and newspaper, I’m gonna use for the stove in the winters; CD I rip and like for storage; CD I don’t like and gonna gave to charity; broken component, that charity collect for repair by there ppl who try to get skill for a job; sleepy music for my bedroom; party music for the family room (work in progress); etc!

So I more everything around so me and my wife could proceed a deep clean behind bookshelf, under couches, etc.

This years, I am questioning myself, since, i just finish a new pair of speakers, do I need 4 feet to the side wall and my sub(2), do they go on the corner, back the speakers or what side of speaker?

I like to read you on the subject, what you think?

I think some general guidelines about placement within a room will remain the same regardless of speaker eg room modes. But different speaker types will load and interact with the room differently eg open baffle v boxed. And differences between speakers of the same type or even driver size and type will load and interact with the room differently eg on v off axis response. Significant changes with the room itself can obviously affect the interaction but what is significant will depend on the listener.

so 1, 2, 3 or 4 feet? starting rule?

the 4 feet rule in the back, is a must, huge difference, speakers breathe

if the room can support it general rule of thumb is 1/3 way in from front wall for speakers, and 2/3 way in for seats. Side walls again if room can support at least 3’

If you cannot do that I like at least 3’ from any wall.

so 17 x 17.5, should be than:

5.6 from side wall and 5.8 from the back wall of the speakers.

and listening chair is 1/3 of her back wall (5.8 feet) and 8.5 feet each side and center at 5.8 feet in front of the speaker!

seems, like a huge headphone experience???

ok thanks

that seems extreme. The 1/3 was for the front to back. Side I would go with 3’ from tweeter. Thats a starting point, so adjust to your liking.
