Qobuz. CD. Previously posted by @jsteinca in Classical Spinning. The fourth album I ever bought was the Sibelius Finlandia, but I haven’t listened to much of his work. I first listened to this album at my normal very moderate volume which, since it has considerable dynamic range, led to the pianissimo passages being inaudible. A second attempt at a more robust level was much more effective, but did lead to my wife coming up during one of the vigorous passages to enquire what all the racket was about. This is music which you feel rather than appreciate intellectually. I felt the sound quality, whilst adequate, could have been better but if you have a sub it will get some exercise. I much prefer Finlandia.
Extreme trivia: Sibelius was actually called Johan, but changed his name because he inherited a box of visiting cards from his uncle Jean!
