I’m stuck! Can someone give me an intervening post so I can continue updating the “Your Best DSD256” thread?
Les McCann “Never a Dull Moment– Live from Coast to Coast (1966-1967)” Resonance Records 3 cd set, disc 1
These sets of trio recordings are a very rewarding listen, for me. Nicely recorded and mastered–not pristine studio recordings, but nicely rendered live recordings.
Leonard Bernstein & New York Philharmonic - Sibelius - The Seven Symphonies
If there is one thing I can glean from my Dad’s record collection is that he really thought Leonard Bernstein was the bees knees. Probably because he got to go to NYC all the time and see him as my Uncle lived in Manhattan.
Im also stuck… because I can’t quite tell what you are asking for!
I dont smoke cigars, but the other night I had some excellent Cuban food. I do love Cuban food.
No more than 5 posts in a row, I assume.
huh, I didn’t even know that
@Dirk knows it…lol
so you’re saying that @Dirk is being restrained in his listening? Amazing
Yes, Dale. Imagine if it was a maximum of 50 posts in a row …![]()
I’m all for it
thats enough
This is a volume from a complete cycle of Haydn’s symphonies, interspersed with a work or two in each volume by a composer other than Haydn. In this case, that other composer is Bela Bartok – much to my surprise. But the connection is that Haydn regularly included folk music themes in his symphonies, particularly dance music. So, what better than Bartok’s Romanian Dances for an interlude, played on period instruments of the 16th and 17th Centuries! the different timbre of many of these instruments brings a whole new perspective to Bartok’s famous music.
That’s one of the things I really like about the Maxwell String Quartet’s Haydn albums - they understood his folk music themes and paired them to Scottish folk tunes. Make for excellent albums
