Mark Masters Jazz Ensemble featuring Gary Smulyan “American Jazz Institute presents Ellington Saxophone Encounters”

A very well-recorded swinging disc that has scratched an itch for Ellington music.

Alice Babs and Duke Ellington “Serenade to Sweden” cd

Now a focus on Ellington trombones and Alice Babs, an excellent session recorded in Stockholm.

If ever there is a jazz album that could use the Plangent Process. . . I think this one would benefit heavily, there seems to be a wobble to the sound.

This album seems to be a nice followup to “Serenade to Sweden” . . . the mood seems right. It’s been 21 years now since its release. . . I think we can call it a “classic.” It seems to deserve such a designation.

Wow! New discovery for me from letting Qobuz wander in the background quietly working at the office.

Pretty “cool” artist and record.

Time for a switch in musical genre. I’ve been listening to classical for the past several days finishing up a set of reviews. Time to just chill with some quiet jazz.
