She is good and handles the limitations of the violin well, but cello suites sound better on a cello.
Qobuz. HR. I compared this album to my old Ashkenazy CD. Paradoxically, although you can hear that it is HiRes, the piano sounded better on the CD. On this album I find it a bit dull, and I prefer Ashkenazy’s timing. Both albums are padded out with the addition of the Ravel orchestration.
I couldn’t agree more. But I do like her ability and approach to the music…
I love Band on the Run, but the recording seems so thin. The vinyl specifically, but I had compared it to the stream a while back and it seemed similar.
But I see from your image this is a 2010 remaster. It would be nice if Roon called that out. (I see it in the Tidal app, but not when using Roon.)
It still sounds a bit thin, I know what you mean, but today’s listen reminded me what a slapdash bass player PM can be
(The bass sounds great, in terms of the playing as well, but it’s very loose).
There is something about a choir that gives me a sense of peace.
His Ubi Caritas is particularly gorgeous.
