I absolutely despise Country Music but I can’t stop listening to Gary Allen - Right Where I Need To Be…I fear I might wake up tomorrow and my dawg will have run’d away and I might be heading out to purchase a dually pickup… Moooo!
Y’all won’t tell anyone - will ya???
One of the best aptly named albums. I’m not a pop fan but there are some absolute gems on this album. The guy was skilled.
House of Not - Any track from their 4 albums but especially tracks with the word Pipe*, Piper or Glenn Fiddick in it. Or ‘It’s My Nature’ or ‘Was It As Good For You’ or ‘Is That The Best You Can Do’…
Electric bagpipes. Soulful as hell. Angst. Blues. Seduction. Borderline gospel sin. Best band I’ve heard in years.
If Balligomingo’s “Lust” is the epitome of the musical translation of sex, then House Of Not’s “Pipedream” is the seduction that lead to it. Can’t recommend these guys highly enough.
You’re Welcome.
Delighted to see Matteis appearing on your breakfast menu!
Qobuz. CD. The last Dylan album I bought was ‘Slow Train Coming’, which effectively killed off any further interest. This meant that the CD2 tracks were new to me. I do not feel that I have missed much. CD1 had the nostalgia meter clipping on overload; they were essential elements in the sound track of my youth, although even then the cover versions of his songs were often more enjoyable than the originals. SQ variable.
I’m not into pop much either but I’m a big fan of George Michael.
I think “Older” is his masterpiece.
Thanks… I bought it (used copy) from my favourite local book shop. Young girl who helps out on the weekends puts CDs on a shelf below the countertop for my perusal, and occasionally, some appeal to me. I bought the CD before the current lockdown.
