What are you spinning right now?

xianharris said what would Mr. Bach think about these transcriptions?
He was so busy he might not have noticed.

I bet he would have been astonished by the massive sound and romantic treatments, neither of which were part of his world.

He enjoyed instrumental color and textures so he might have thought they were great fun.

It is amusing to speculate.

Don’t mean to sound like a broken record (hahaha) but listening to Joey Alexander (again) “My Favorite Things” - for you piano trio jazz fans. If you haven’t heard this record, made a couple of years ago when he was 11 years old, listen to it. Hope he lives and records at least for the rest of my life.

lonson said System is sounding magnificent this morning. Love the new ZTPRE preamp . . .

Congratulations on the new preamp!!! Tell us more.

It’s one that I have wanted since its introduction, and I stumbled on to a barely used one that had all the options I would want (copper foil Jupiter beeswax caps, three inputs, remote volume control). This is the Decware flagship preamp, and a very purist preamp. Fully balanced, three XLR inputs and an XLR output. Truly dual mono with only the IEC inlet shared by the channels. Four toroidal transformers (a toroidal transformer being a first and a departure for Decware), solid state rectification, very beefy power supply, “output transformer less” design, six 6N1P or 6922 type tubes, three per channel, dual volume controls, output voltage adjustable for each channel up to 30v via stepped attenuator controls. . .

I’ve had Decware’s previous single-ended preamps before and really enjoyed them, but had the hardest time getting them to be what I would call “truly transparent”. . . . This new design really has disappeared and yet added all the great things one would want with a preamp. Soundstage, depth, dynamics have all improved. I also bought (used) XLR cables from VooDoo Cable to equip this preamp, their top of the line, Stradivarius Amati.

The system sound went up a few notches and I’ve never had better sound. Very happy.

Cool!

All Decware products I have heard have been wonderful. I bet this unit is a treat.

The batwing design is a hoot.

Yes, it looks very cool, like a V6. . . though since it has six dual triodes I think of it as a V12. Another plus is my wife really likes the color and the looks. And even noticed the sound.

Right now

Desert Island material for me.

Phenomenal technique and style…

This one again. Such a great sounding disc, and the music is soothing and relaxing and invites one to think deeply believe it or not. An autumn of one’s life disc.

The system is sounding so good! Recent additions have been worthy ones.

This is a classic I have multiple editions of. . . this one is the recent “Jazz Connoisseur” edition from Legacy (Sony Europe).

I love this Gene Shaw-Shafi Hadi-Jimmy Knepper front line.

Cocaine Blues: Vintage Songs About Cocaine & Heroin Various Artists (2015)

… an odd collection of music but by some big name artists (Woody Guthrie, Cab Calloway, Louis Armstrong, etc.)

… even an odder Christmas present to me a couple years back (?)

… very interesting from a historical perspective

Funny. Must be a common image. Meschiya Lake and the Little Big Horns are a trad jazz band performing, 4 to 5 days a week, in various clubs throughout New Orleans. Meschiya has a big voice that easily fills the small clubs there. She has a cool background starting out as a circus performer.

Flip Side:

Meschiya Lake at the Spotted Cat. IMHO, the greatest live music club in the world. Lots of music clubs I haven’t seen, of course, but I still hold to my opinion.

Looks like a real cool place. I will check out the band.

Piano Concerto No. 9 in E-flat, K271…Mozart’s first piano concerto masterpiece!

amsco15, I listened to Meschiya Lake & The Little Big Horns on youtube. Great band. Amazon was sold out of one album and only had one each of two other albums. Anyway, at random I choose Lucky Devil.

tabascocat1994, hope you enjoy. If you ever take a trip to The Big Easy, check them out live. I have lots of tips for enjoying your time there including one of the greatest places to stay. Love the sharing of musical tastes in this thread. Stay high and dry in Florida!!
