My system is sounding so good I keep wanting to feed it incredible sounding recordings.
I played these two Platinum SHM-CDs from Japan. Mono mixes, mastering is superb. Love the sound.

The mono version from the Blu-Spec CD2 Japanese box set of the Columbia Mono Albums set.
House is quiet and I can lounge listening to a fine stringmeister and good wordsmith
Been too long since Iāve heard this one. (From the Coltrane box set āSide Stepsā).
Two new Pentatone 96/24 downloads - Houston Symphony playing Dvorak Symphony No. 9 āNew Worldā. This a very dynamic recording of a spirited performance. Love it.
Also Elgar Cello Concerto Johannes Moser with the Orchestre de la Suisse Romande. Another stunning recording with a lovely performance that I actually prefer to the famous 1965 Du Pre.
Both are well worth checking out.
cerobo said Elgar Cello Concerto Johannes Moser with the Orchestre de la Suisse Romande. Another stunning recording with a lovely performance that I actually prefer to the famous 1965 Du Pre.A strong recommendation, this.
Is it cruel to say that I would love this session more if it werenāt Ray Draperās and just a quartet with Coltrane?
Great rhythm section behind the horns. Listening to this via the Coltrane āSide Stepsā box set.
Antonio Carlos Jobim, Stone Flower, this time the Japanese SHM-CD remastered by Rudy Van Gelder. Subtly different, a bit more forward, stronger bass. A neat way to hear this recording that I know so well.
Havenāt spun this one in a while, this is a quiet storm of a great jazz vocals album.
Mary Chapin Carpenter - Ashes and Roses
Broke a banana connector on the amp end of my speaker cables (Morrow SP5s). The BHK 250ās speaker terminals and the Morrow bananas are not a good match. Always had trouble (no trouble on the speaker end). Iāll have Morrow replace the bananas with spades. Always a problem to solve in this finicky hobby. For now, Iām using cheap bi-wired Vampire wire (2-12Ga twisted pairs) I had laying around.
Anyway, Stereo is playing sweet, sweet music!
A bad ass record! Voices Inside is so funky!
She has a regular gig at the Jazz Playhouse inside the Royal Sonesta Hotel in New Orleans on Bourbon Street. Yes, there is Jazz still played on Bourbon Street!
Continuing the Dolphy with Hamilton theme, especially since Lucinda seems to be enjoying it and letting the stereo play on. . . .
Great compilation. Grant Green Sookie Sookie is the second song: canāt stay in my seat, must dance!!
Disc 2: from Lionel Hampton to Fats Domino. Great idea and execution!! Three CD set!!
This sounds good!!! DSD download through the bridge in a DS fed from a win 10 server using JRiver!! Good stuff!!!
One of the fathers, literally, of New Orleans Jazz. Still lives, plays and records there. Great CD for Sunday morning breakfast.
