What are you spinning right now?

I’ve loved this music since I first heard it about four decades ago. This SACD sounds fantastic.

Disc 2

The Platinum SHM-CD version.

Covers on this series are beautifully printed–vivid, glossy. Sound is great as well.

Another of the Platinum SHM-CDs from Universal. I have to say I like what Universal Japan has done with the Blue Note catalogue since they acquired it.

An intriguing new progrock download from NativeDSD. Am listening to the DXD version now, but am thinking the DSD actually sounds a bit better. Slightly surprising, since it was digitized in DXD.

Paper Motion

The recently released Warner Japan SHM-CD.

Great music, great sound.

Niiiiiice. The great cellist and arranger Jacques Morelenbaum is on board here, and boy does he know Jobim, having played with him for years. Daniel Jobim is on piano, and Paulo Jobim is on guitar. And the great Brazilian drummer Paulo Braga rounds out the band.

They all support this Portuguese fado/pop singer so well. And she does a great job. Really good modern recording too, a bit “loud,” but not terribly so.

Have to say this is one appropriately named album. I listened through the Castro box set and remembered what a great player he was and hadn’t heard this one for a while. What a quartet! Castro on piano with Teddy Edwards on tenor, Leroy Vinegar on bass and Billy Higgins on drums. This was a great session.

Just arrived. I know this music from dubs of the cassette releases of the past. . . wow the sound quality here is better than I expected and a beautiful booklet.

Very sophisticated cover. how’s the sound? The samples at CD-Japan don’t sound so good, kind of scratchy and distant.

The 1960 sounds okay. I buy a lot of material and enjoy it that others might not. It probably sounds better than it does on the samples, but it’s not really good sound. The 1966 material sounds a lot better. And surprised me as a good session as well.

The Japanese SHM-CD.

Lovely voice. This album is produced by T-Bone Burnett, and the sound is great.

Disc 1.

I listened to all three Dylan discs. They hit the spot.

Now

The Grateful Dead May 1977 “Get the Light” box set that the UPS man just dropped off, right now May 5, first show.
