Iām going to say the greatest bebop singer of all, the only vocalist Miles Davis ever shared a microphone with, Bob Dorough. Listen to his recordings from the mid-50s first, then his albums from the late 20th. If you have never heard him, listen to āYardbird Suiteā and āPolkadots and Moonbeamsā.
Very good and worthy of agreement. One of my favourites is John Singer Sergeant.
Orpheus must have had a very good voice, given what he achieved, not least negating the sirens.
Otherwise, Iād go for Tom Waits or Ian Dury.
