I’m with you regarding Eva Cassidy. I also like Carmen Gomes.

Tough call there, and a mental challenge. I’m going to abandon any pretense of making a point. Total sincerity dictates I respond Karen Carpenter. If I play Close to You, just to reassure my faith in humanity, I end up listening to at least another dozen tracks to feed my thirst for her beautiful timbre, intonation, style and musical moxie.

Happy listening!

Joni Mitchell

Ella Fitzgerald for a woman , Elvis Presley for a man.

Amen to that! But as I started to know her when her career started (thanks to living in the D.C area), I’m a wee bit biased.

It varies based on the day and my mood, but for today it is Sassy, Sarah Vaughan.

Have you heard Rumor? Brittish gal that sounds a lot like Karen. She did a Live From Daryl’s House, if you want to look her up on Youtube.

cheers,

Grace Potter. Young Janis Joplin with better vocal control.

a fan.

Thanks @Mongo. I have not heard of Rumor, but will have to check it out.

Phil Collins. No contest.

And “Baby Phil Collins” agrees with me. (Not actually Baby Phil Collins)
