Your Next Upgrade? (Part 2)

Don’t give up! I bought a perfect used pair for $15K.

TMR had a pair for sale for a few cents under $8k. I hesitated, I should not have.

Just bought a PST sacd/cd transport, for half off, looking forward to use it with my Stellar Gold DAC, I will send back the D,BOB that I could not confirm I was getting DSD running on the SGD, it played music but did not show “DSD” on the screen. I have about 200 SACD’s so I feel it is worth it.
The seller is 3 hours away so we will meet half way to avoid shipping, he is confirming that the warranty will transfer. I am assuming no updates as far as components have bee changed since it was bought in August 2022?

After getting behind the rack and taking a closer look, I can see that the screws in the AirLens and DAC Mk2 are preventing the Tubulus v2 connector pushing fully home. The recess formed in the connector looks exactly the same size as in your photo above. So maybe PS Audio changed their screwhead size in their shipment to the UK in November 2023. I may have to replace the screws for smaller versions. Not a big deal.

The CLX did not last long, possibly only a few hours?

Well the StellarGold DAC arrived on schedule but the M700 amps did not. So, using the Sprout100 as a power amp to at least give things ago. Was very disappointed to see that the remote control code issue still exists, but was able to resolve it using the 2nd set of codes now available on the PS Audio remote. Hopefully the M700’s show up tomorrow so I can really try things out.

You never know when a pair may show up in a used guitar shop in Milwaukee.

The Conrad Johnson Art 300 tube monoblocks are still at TMR, box supposedly unopened, and is only $24.5k.

I hear that Gryphon seems “nice”

I didn’t know the 2.1KW was released. Beautiful amps. The 2KWs sounded great these must be phenomenal.

You’re right, they were released right now.

And I’ll be able to hear them as soon as I sell my left kidney, ehehehe…

Damn how much they cost, but it will still be a goal to reach!

There is no substitute for headroom. I have seen a used pair of MC2KW sell for $45k. But no room to stack them. I use my system also for Home Theater.

$45k a pair is a very good price, and you will see that it can go down now that the new models are out.

Of course, everyone’s dream would be this: :joy:

I took advantage of the Shunyata sale and have two Alpha NR for my pre-amp and DAC and a Sigma NR for my amp coming. This should be an upgrade from AQ Tornado but only an in home demo with my ears will tell.

Yes I listened to that setup before. It was alot prettier than mine but was pretty close in sound to my system when I was running MC1000s. It took awhile for the MC1.25KWs to break in and sound as good then finally better. I suppose if I have to buy 4 ohm speakers I’d have to relive the autoformer break in since I drive off the 8 ohm taps

Damn, spectacular. :open_mouth:
I’ve listened to the XRT2Ks with the MC2KWs, but never a complete HT system. :smiling_face_with_tear:

True, if you change speaker impedance it’s as if your amplifier plays for the first time.
