Your Next Upgrade? (Part 2)

Nice unit, maybe not TOTL for FM reproduction. I have two Mitsubishi tuners available for sale a DA-F10 and its cousin DA-F20. Special offer to anyone on the forum that may be interested. Excellent sounding tuners as well as a retro 70s aesthetic.

In the 70s underground radio via FM was ā€œITā€, being a great way to explore the more experimental side of music. As far as 2023 not so much.

I listen to our local jazz station KMHD several times a week. This tuner is in my office and gets used often. Rebuilt by yours truly.

I purchased this back in 1981 when FM was still a viable music source. These days, I just listen to one or two stations. Still works and and still looks very cool at night in low lighting.

Just closed the deal on a used Shunyata Omega QR-S

Even used, it’s still stupid money. My IBEW 701 dad is rolling over in his grave. Gonna use it on my mkii.

I talked to Dave this morning on his Silver Ribbon power cords, and he said many of his customers prefer his over both AQ and Siltech top-of-line power cords.

He just loaned out his PSR-14 to another customer, but he has a PSR-11 available to try out soon (in London). He told me for sources consume more than 50 watts such as preamp and some of the DAC, many liked PSR-11 better. But for CD players and streamers that typically consume less power, there should not be a sonic difference.

In addition to Lumin, I may try it on DS MK2 to compare with Dragon too.

Did you also talk to him about the copper ribbon cable PCR? He also has PL copper round wire in the program, but they should sound brighter. You probably couldn’t stand it until after your vacation.:joy: We addicts need our drugs now. I still have to put on the brakes a bit. I still have a few appointments with my dentist. And the storm damage takes precedence. I’m curious when you can test the cables. I’ve had the PSR and PCR in my head for a long time. Greetings Andrew

we did not even mention PCR. He knows I was looking for a cord that can compete with Dragon. So our focus was on PSR.

From past experience, I like silver conductor for power cords, and silver or silver plated conductor for streaming chain seems to work even better.

I am sure you can get a loaner from him too. He has demo cables in Aisa and Europe too.

I’m a huge fan of Shunyatas reference power cords using pure silver and the highest quality copper…achieving a superlative listening experience. A full system loom has to be heard to be believed!

I’d guess about half of my day is covered by FM—classical NPR station. NAD C422 Tuner!

Graham Phantom III with My Sonic Labs Eminent Solo Mono Cartridge finally installed. Lots of pre 1960 albums to go through. Also heard that The Beatles early stuff was better on mono. Crates of records are being pulled out. Feel very fortunate.

Better have the paperwork out for proper phase playing back those old records!

Dave’s email this morning said his customer who has the demo will return to US in three weeks, and he will bring PSR-11 back instead of mailing it. I guess I will not see it for another month at the earliest. :man_shrugging:

The Nordost Frey 2 USB cable (c to a) is scheduled to arrive later today. I have a load of downloads to break it in. Once I finished that I will try it between the streamer and the Samsung T7 external SSD. I hope it would make a noticeable SQ improvement.

Good evening, You have to be careful with Samsung T7 ssd, not all cables work.
For example the Curious cable does not work but the Wireworld works…

Okay, I will soon knowšŸ™

The Sandisk Extreme works with both cables.
I am interested in the result :crossed_fingers:
