Your Next Upgrade? (Part 2)

I hadn’t thought about the spacer thing, but that’s a good idea. I just clean the platter more often for dirtier records. My brother has the VPI and I believe the Okki Nokki is about the same noise level.

I am an hour or so away from having my Grimm Mu2. @straightwire already has his.
It is MU2 Day!

Congratulations to you Al and @straightwire.

Barkeeper, cables all around for my good fellows.

The MU2 is awfully tempting. I could replace four boxes (two pre-amp, DAC, and streamer) and two expensive power cords with one box and one power cord. I’d have to give up jriver…hmmmm.

Even if I no longer have a record player, I would choose Okki Nokki. Just to say that I have an Okki Nokki to see stupid and questioning faces on my friends.

It makes me wish I cared more than I do about the sound of my digital side.

I’d be content with just your analog side. The Grimm MU2 offers a compelling choice as an all in one preamplifier, DAC, and Streamer. It also hobbles its owner regarding furture upgrades, which could be a good thing. Less OCD upgrade, more music listening.

I went from 5 boxes (amps and line stage) to 1 box (integrated). That experiment lasted about six months and I’m back to 4 boxes.
I’m of the opinion that more boxes are better.

Rumor has it the MU2 will work with Jriver type software soon.

More boxes ARE better, but contrary to any meaningful downsizing effort.
So you say you are considering the XS300?

Now, this might sound over the top… hold on to your digitalis fellas, but I’ve gotten to the point where I don’t want to change anything in my system. I know, that’s crazy talk. But there, I’ve said it.
I hope I don’t get c…c…c…cancelled…

Now I like the sound of that!! I have a pretty deep attachment to Jriver that I could, but would hate to, give up.

Full warranty at Audio Experience and priced similarly. Err, maybe not as they no longer appear on the website. Hopefully sold. These were posted recently at a fine price, His and Hers.

But–you can buy a new 4.0 Cayman GTS for that money–with 3 pedals and a full leather interior.

I can’t remember which forum I am on. Is this a coffee forum? Nevertheless I did get a new grinder today. It’s a Kafatek MC6.
