Your Next Upgrade? (Part 2)

I can smell the grind from here.

Nice, I love that handle for the draft beer! Wait! It is the coffee thread; I am confused.

So, the MU2 arrives. I had just finished backing up the MU1 on my NAS. Unplugged the MU1, Stealth Sakra V17 1m pair hooks up sweetly. Powered up the MU2, restored the backup, I’m done. The MU1 reality transferred painlessly.

It sounds amazing! Dang! Dang twice! MU2 streams to the endpoint in the BACCH, BACCH has a USB out that I plugged into a Matrix, 9 volt external power supply (the Correct voltage) and Stealth to the input on the BACCH. Works great. But wait, Streaming from the MU2 to the MU2 can handle DSD256 and then upsample it. Say what? This means no BACCH. No big deal, good lord listen to this.

You’re not in the mood to add anything to your system, but sooner or later, this will come your way.

I suggest immediate surrender. This thing really is perfect! (With the right cables)

No BACCH at the moment, I don’t care. I was afraid this would happen.
(I will BACCH again, twenty minutes or so from now)(Ben Webster Live In Copenhagen, DSD256)

Does the USB port of the MU2 work just for NAS? I mean, is it possible to use USB out for streaming to an external DAC?

Have you heard Forza’s? Too big for a small auditorium, but oh boy. If you like Vivid, you’d feel right at home with Estelons. I think they were designed by kindred spirits. Mmmmmmmmm.

No, hence the Matrix. It is a limitation of the Bacch4Mac. The adio has SPDIF out so this is just temporary. This totally slays the MU1 and any DAC you care to purchase. The MU1 is limited to 192k. It never bothered me until now. Fun. Every time I think I’m there, I am wrong. Most amusing hobby this.

The USB port is only for an external drive that will be a read only affair. But you could do a 16TB drive for what, $250?.

Oh, @adifferentpaul ! The USB port works swell with Thumbdrives with DSD on them! Preamp, server, streamer, DAC. One little box.

But you have to use Roon?

For now. Apparently those other options, whatever they are called, that let you use whatever you want are on the horizon. No date is determined. But I am going to corner Eelco at Axpona and make him fess up. You have two or three weeks to wait before I know more.

Oops, BACCH is back on. It seems nice.

Thanks for checking. I guess for now I will just suffer through with my new Aries G2.2.

I love those as well. You’re not suffering. No Sir E Bob.

I was supposing it, thanks! I’m out!

I need a USB out from the server/streamer, having the ProUSB Module connected via fiber to the MSB DAC, now 7 meters far from the rack on the front wall.

I followed your suggestions, my Mentor, and I’m going to move the DAC closer to the amp in order (when funds permit me) to go for a short STEALTH XLR in that last (analog) meter.

I’m not interested in DSD at all, a superior DAC can bring the magic even at lower formats.

Oh I normally dont pay too much attention to formats. But the old thing had limits. The new thing doesn’t.

@aangen Dang!! This is an incredible review of the Grimm MU2!! I’ll be interested to hear how you meld it with BACCH and contribution of ORC (on/off) with the MU2.

I did just that a few posts above. It’s easy.

I’m still using the same grinder (Mr. Coffee!) that my sister gave me for Xmas about 27 years ago! Amazes me how steady and problem-free that has been so long.

Until I move into a small auditorium, no. I do like the look though and the fact that they also don’t have any flat surfaces.

Are you coming to Axpona?

Highly doubtful.

This should be here in a week or two. I’ve been waiting for the build since December.

With MU2 you can lose the expensive USB and MSB and then pocket the cash from all the savings. Blasphemy!
