Because the look cooler that way! MBL’s other advantage is the large integrated subwoofer array! The Estelon’s are no slouch in bass output but they can match the MBL’s bottom end.

Nothing a 6 pack of Rel No. 32’s or 31’s couldn’t remedy! And you’d still have lots of spare change in savings!

The Daleks will take you to their Skaro home.

Whatever that means.

It’s a simple theory, you want one full blade pointing at the listening position on each speaker.

Wait! Does Daleks still exist all these decades later? I thought they were eliminated by Dr. Who several times. Wait, is Dr. Who still exist too? :open_mouth:

Who knows… Hard luck being dependent on those particular phone booths!

I should have put this in the Humor forum, but heck, Al might want several of these, especially the Andover Audio Spinbase.

It’s a Dr Who reference. The Dalek are always trying to kill him. Their home planet is Skaro. The speaker shape reminds me of them.

It depends on your timeline.

I know at least two people with a dalek in their shed

Entirely (and genuinely) unrelated, there was also, in the early 70s, an incident when several BBC-owned daleks were stolen and the flagship children’s program at the time, Blue Peter, set the nations children on the lookout for them.
I will have to google the details, I’m fairly sure I didn’t imagine this!

Meanwhile it has recently been discovered what the evil creatures inside Daleks actually look like:

Doctor Who is still around, alive and kicking. The Daleks are also around

I bet they will still be around when I’m exterminated

I think this is one of the most recent versions.

Yes bigger budgets for doctor who now (or twenty years ago when the revived series started up with Christopher ecclestone and his successors).
But you can still do a decent impression with a sink plunger and an egg whisk

Fantastic

I bought one earlier this year. It’s quite nice and works well. Given what many have invested in their analog rigs, it’s price could be argued as ā€œreasonableā€.

Well I’ve gotten my silver dCS Bartók back with the APEX upgrade! I have it breaking in for a while. Sounds very nice out of the box. I hear more texture and detail in the music versus non APEX. It’s well worth the money and hassle.
