Your Next Upgrade? (Part 2)

I believe all of my recent (last couple of years) upgrades and tweaks have been associated with a perceived lowering of the “noise floor”/a perception that there is an increase in clarity emanating from a quieter background.

Yeah, that’s the ticket…

With all the new upgrades, you’ve got plenty to do in the coming week. From what I’ve read, the difference with the PSR 11 isn’t just that there are more conductors. It’s probably unshielded and optimized for amplifiers and splitters. Dave will likely offer additional shielding if desired. Without shielding it should be more dynamic. I don’t know what version you’re getting

Now you mentioned it, I recall Dave said even though the design is the same, he designed 11 without (or less?) shielding. He believes that PSR-11 will sound better on amps/generators. So, I am sure the demo I will get is the one without shielding.

But he thinks it may sound better on pre. too. On sources he is not sure if I will hear much difference. Time will tell.

Dollars to doughnuts you will try both your new GTX D NCF simultaneuosly

Best wishes

I’ll take the donuts

I will shelf the Furutech outlet for the time being, but I will have a donut too🙂

What on earth will shelving your new outlet serve?

It is not the shelf that needs a high performance outlet

Hint hint

Remember that you want to point your system in the right direction. The new outlet may provide more detail and tighter bass with a blacker background. I would mount the new socket. If the PSR 11 arrives at the same time, listen with the old power outlet shortly beforehand.

Atta boy socket to him :grinning:

Good info Ron, as usual. Did you try it with your digital source or just analog?

Both. Same result.

My experience, in my system anyway, the dark background takes the longest time to develop whether it is gear, cable, fuse, or even tweak during break-in. The Furutech needs 500 hours to break in!

Both PSR-11 and 14, along with my other power cords, are in the top-tier level. So, I need to treat them with respect. Introducing a new element will just confuse me. So, thanks but no thanks, wall outlet will be later so I can know how good it is. :golfing_woman:

Good strategy, Donald! I’ve never been able to adopt it.

I am not going to replace my ProAc Tablette 10 Signature’s on my desk, but if I was looking, these DeVORE Orangutan micr/O would be in the running.

LOL! I think I just bought my first ever Integrated Tube Amplifier.
Most Amusing. Bet it uses fuses.

Actually, I’m more of a fan of powerful transistor amplifiers. But tube amps also have their appeal. I had the opportunity to hear both models before the premiere of the Westend tube amps.
B&W 801 D3 speakers were used. First the Westend Leo, he made music, but somehow nothing special. He found it noticeably difficult with the selected large B&W loudspeakers.
Then came the Westend Monaco, which is not only a feast for the eyes, but also made a lasting impression on me in terms of sound. It has enough power to drive large speakers and produces a beautifully detailed, airy, three-dimensional soundstage.
The voices were just magical. It just played music effortlessly and had as much control over the speakers as a large solid state amp.
If I wanted a tube amp and were willing to pay the price I would go with the Westend Monaco.
The solid aluminum housing perfectly matches the look of the Darc speaker series, with which it also sounds fantastic

I have a pretty okay transistor amp.
This tube amp will be my first ever. It most likely will be used in my nearfield computer desk system.

I still regret selling my DeVores. They had personality.
