plus one for bolsters as corner dampers
Seems to work well. I plan on wrapping a second cargo blanket around each one at some point to make them a little bigger round.
A photographer friend created this image of my Fyne SuperTrax supertweeter:
These have made a terrific improvement in my system…
Gryphon D333 has been sitting on the dealer floor since June 30th, and finally I got an update from UPS this morning it was picked up yesterday. It is scheduled to be delivered on July 10th. My son-in-law left for NY, so I need to figure out how to bring it into the rack.
Another good news is Stealth CG LE will be here tomorrow by FedEx. Many complained about FedEx services, but UPS is worse in keeping up schedule lately.
To celebrate July 4th and the good news, I will open one of my favorite bottles:
I have tasted many pricier bottles from the 90s, and this one remains to be one of the best from that era. It is bold and powerful, and without a hint of fading. It will go well with the Tomahawk steak tonight.
Was hoping you would get the 333 sooner, but when it does arrive, will be totally worth it.
In MY area as far as timely deliveries go USPS is first, UPS second, and FedEx rates last (the most disappointments). I think a lot is area specific.
That is also my experience here in Albuqueque, however, USPS has had some royal screwups the past couple months. I’ve tracked at least three packages that arrived in the local distribution center and the next day were in a distribution center 2000 miles away. That little detour added another 10 days to the delivery time. I’ve had a few packages that scanned in but didn’t move for a month and the post office didn’t know what happened. What were once reliable government supported services are now becoming the laughing stock of third world countries.
So unfortunate!
I’m pretty sure the delay with your 333 had nothing to do with UPS.
I am surprised it wasn’t delivered directly to you vs a vacation in Chicago.
Gryphon has a policy of not shipping to end customers.
June 30 to July 4th. The horror!
It is strange that it must ship to the dealer first. D333 actually arrived in Chicago on June 29th already. I was reminded to call to make sure the shipping would be taken care of (a long story, thanks to another member here). Anyway, a UPS label was created on June 30th. I emailed every day to the office that actually handles the shipping, and was told UPS would pick it up. Well, it took four more days.
I am just glad I received a confirmaton finally.
When you run your own business, you get to make choices after lessons learned.
Can no dealer have a few units in stock for such an appealing seller?
It only took seven weeks, and someone told me that is about right for a Gryphon. He is right.
It took 7 to 8 weeks for the powerzone. You were part of the purchase also.
Do not remember it took that long, but you could be right. Gryphon must make them when orders are in.
I am on grilling Tomahawk steak now, no more posting.
Update on the Signature Diamond cartridge. After 10 hours of break-in, the sound changed quite a bit. It mellowed quite a bit and most of the hardness and agressive nature are gone, just like what my friend said happens with his Signature Platinum. He came over to borrow an extra phono “Gold Rush” cable that I had and briefly listened to the Diamond, The first words that came from his mouth was “I can hear it as soon as the needle dropped, between the SoundSmith and the Diamond, there’s no comparison, its so much clearer, more micro detailed, larger soundstage and bigger, denser images, so much quieter surface noise like CD’s, only CD’s could never approach this level of fidelity.” He hates the sound of ditigal. He only plays vinyl at home beside 4k DVD’s. SoundSmith is good, but because I chose the special needle that fits the groove better, it has to be set up perfectly, but I think the needle also reaches down into the bottom dirtiest parts of the groove, the surface noise and pops are amplified. He thinks his Platinum is much better than my former SoundSmith, but now he is seriously considering selling his Platinum and getting the Diamond, but he will lose a lot of money in the process.
Donald,
In my case, the shipment was stuck in custom until they receive all the documents and is paid the duties, then the shipping company has to get the money from me or the shipper and that has to clear before they continue the shipment to me, that took about a week. But right after everything was cleared, I got the package the next day which means the package was not stuck in custom very long and was moving all the time, they only held back the delivery until all the money cleared.
Nothing as exciting as diamond cartridge but I did order the Stack Auva record stabilizer. I look forward to how it will work on the Rega RP10.
What…no freight shipment ? UPS instead?
Hmm!
