Totally depends on you taste in music as to garbage. There is some “music” I would not want to be recycled for fear of contamination. With two of them, he could set up a drive through service. Perhaps even a burger while you wait. By the way, I typed “he”. Any gals active on the forum?

I’ve not observed any female members engage in the forum which is curious and interesting. Seems to be very much a male dominated hobby despite women being as much musical as men.

Perhaps a PhD thesis for some budding psychologist?

I recall over the past years one or two female members for a bit of time. Perhaps @Elk can shed a better light on it. My guess is they probably quickly grew tired of seeing how most of the discussion was around “boys toys” instead of music, which they might have thought was the whole purpose of the hobby. I dunno, it’s just a guess. :man_shrugging:

Perhaps one factor, among many given the complexity of such phenomena, is that women prefer to relate more directly to one another rather than through ‘things’.

Maybe under cover. Or even impersonating!

@aangen Can the Fonoteek be connected to house plumbing?

Getting in a Synergistic Research Black Box.

Not sure if it will help with my MBL101E speakers or not??

Yes, but they’re both busy.

It was a bit of a bother setting the Degritter Fonoteek Vinyl Cleaner up. Filling the two filters, one for the wash tank and one for the rinse tank, and then sending water backwards through them to clear out any unwanted anything from them was no fun. But it got done. A few drops of water found their way to the bottom of the case. The water leak detector discovered them and an alarm sounded. The rule is to shut off the machine and let it dry. Or use a hair dryer to dry the leaked water and any that found its way to the ultra-sensitive leak detector device. I had to use the hair dryer as I have zero patience.

Once all that was done it was time to fill both tanks with distilled water, add the special sauce to the wash tank, and then clean a record.

There are brushes now inside the tank. When it is time to clean you can choose a quick, ultrasonic only clean and ultrasonic rinse and then dry. This is pretty fast. But I chose to do a brush and ultrasound clean, then an ultrasound rinse, and then dry. This involves turning a knob to the desired wash method and then pressing the knob.

The first record I did came out a new kind of clean. I have never seen a record so clean. It looks really nice. I will listen to it tonight and see how clean it is. The one I cleaned first had a little groove noise the last time I listened to it.

I like that there are brushes now. I like that the wash water is cooled so you could easily do continuous cleaning. I like that it has a separate filtered rinse tank. The dry time is 3:30. Fast! And the wash cycle is very quiet. The dry cycle is still a bit noisy but it’s FAST.

Hmmmmmm. I wish it did CD’s.

Fun. I am listening to an album fresh out of the new thang, and I have little to say. Degritter MK1 vs. Fonoteek. Seems close. More testing required.

Maybe the Fonoteek requires 200 hours of burn in time.

I’m supposed to be sleeping.

Is there no way to (temporarily) deactivate the leak detector? No override?
Cutting wires as a last resort for the impatient. :face_with_peeking_eye:
