For that investment, Jeremy should also paint your house!

Lake houses, a mega system in a converted church…my recent upgrade pails in comparison. I’ve been playing around with fuses in my BHK600’s. I sent back SR Purples. It was a Jekyll and Hyde ride with them. One day I was impressed, the next day I thought the life was sucked out of my system. So, I exchanged them for AM M1’s. I have about 5 days with them. I notice more body, better balance, and
(to my surprise) better imaging. I don’t think they are perfect, but better than stock.
While spending more money seemed to provide a cure, I’m not eager to try the SR Master. For now.

I am not surprised with your AM M-1 experience over SR Purples. I had same better results versus SR Purple and SR Master. In my P-20 and LPSs driving digital. The SR fuses can be summarized as sounding wrong and more wrong compared to the M-1 Only fuse I would try next would have to be an Audio Magic new development.

I’d be curious to hear the StellarGold DAC…

Sorry for delayed reply. Probably Stealth. Inakustiks stuff intrigues me though. (non-silver)…

@aangen,

These look like they have a few miles on them, but they are listed for about 25% of their original MSRP:

I wonder how much the rehab would set one back?

They need $50k in parts to be made whole, and they are first generation.
Pass.

(I was interested, but the more I learned the less interested I became)

You can get a mint pair of MK2’s for not much more no repairs necessary full warranty. But you know this.

Not much more than $50K or not much more than the estimated $100K, including repairs?

Curiously yours.

I would feel safe assuming if the MK2 pair was available for a little over $50k they would already be in Al’s house! They are over a $100k probably over $150k but that is a lot less than $269k. I can’t afford the fixer pair or the demo pair but I can admire their beauty and sound until they find a home!

Jamie sent a recent picture of the estelon extremes with the new Vitus power amp that is powering them! I hope to hear them soon with the Vitus amp.

Is the power amp the big black box? What is the amps designation?

The MSB gear is looking a bit lonely.

Yes the Vitus is the big black box. 285 pounds like half an Apex.

Does this mean that Jamie’s reference system is powered with Vitus and not MSB?

I have the system (mostly) reconfigured with the EtherRegen added to the mix (just upstream of the AirLens).

So far, I like what I am hearing; but I have more fiddling and listening to do.

Would be interested in hearing more from veterans that have bothered with an external clock and power supply upgrades for the EtherRen…

Yes. A Vitus amp. Seems like every time he gets the bigger S500 MSB in for a demo he ends up selling it and using the lesser powered M200’s or the stereo version on the extremes which is good but imo the smaller amps give the extremes 65% of what they are capable of. I think the big Vitus should give the Estelon Extremes the power they deserve. I hope to find out soon!
