If you’ve got Roon you can have my first generation Sonos Amp. It’s been deprecated by Sonos, but still works fine in Roon. It’s also got an analog input and a sub out (though you’d need to use Sonos S1 to switch to the input; Roon won’t do that).
All you’d need is to add speakers. And cables.
I can drop it in the mail (USA only unfortunately) if you want it. I have a second one I use with Roon and it’s decent enough.
Edit: Specs-
55W into 8 ohms. It’s not earth shaking? But it’s free. Sorry I don’t have speakers to offer.
The Bluesound powernode is a Roon endpoint, has Bluetooth and AirPlay. Bluesound devices are truly a Swiss Army knife of functionality. And they sound pretty damn good too. I would prob even consider the powernode edge which is smaller and I think around ~$500. Add a nice pair of bookshelf speakers, maybe the KEF Q150* or Paradigm Premier 100B or ELAC Debut or Polk R100 a couple feet of audioquest slip 14/2 and you’ll have a hell of a little system. Will sure beat anything that you could buy from Sonos** or whoever. And I think that stuff will come in under $1000. Crutchfield might even have some open box deals.
You could also look on TMR to see what kinda used bookshelf speakers they have.
Seems like a lot of KEF LSX can be found in the used market at a pretty good deal.
*these speakers often go on sale for almost half their list, might be worth waiting a few weeks to see if there are any Black Friday deals
**sonos are actually pretty good for non serious listening and sound pretty ok. Again they often have a pretty aggressive Black Friday deal, esp of your a Costco member.
Thanks for all the helpful suggestions and offers! I appreciate the help.
For now, at least, we settled on a Bluesound Pulse Mini 2i. For the small space and for what we need, it’s just fine and affordable. It’s certainly not for critical listening, but it’s compact, hooked into Roon easily, sounds much better than our old Boom 3 Bluetooth speaker, and has enough power to play foofey yoga-oriented music.
