I’m just joking. I can’t help with the definitive answer because I don’t have one but my guess is i2s is much better, but don’t put any stock in it because it’s just a guess
Thanks. Besides Ethernet, the DAC has USB, coax, AES/EBU and toslink.
no worries. I caught your drift. Thanks
What streamer supports apple and amazon?
Eversolo DMP-A6, I think.
Check the specs to be sure.
yep Eversolo DMP-A6 supports amazon, apple, tunein, napster, qobuz, tidal, radio paradise, spotify, and a few others I know nothing about.
Cheers!
I use AudioQuest Cinnamon HDMI and Coax Cable to connect Airlens with direct stream. I2S connection has my preference though only very minor differences with Coax Connection.
Hi, I think both the coaxial and I2S outputs of the AirLens are top rate. Both will give you great sound.
I’ve found the AirLens will carry the flavour of the cable you connect it with and think the primary difference in what you hear will be from that, rather than the connection type. That and the coax will max out at DSD128 whereas the I2S will go to DSD256.
I have had the AirLens for about a week and am using it with my Direct Stream DAC MK1 via an audioquest Carbon 48 HDMI cable. I traded in my Bridge II. The unit has been playing 10-12 hours/day.
I am very pleased with the improvement the AirLens has made in bass impact and definition, imaging, air and overall naturalness of sound. I am hearing things in the highs now as if my ears had less mileage on them. The improvements are greater than I had anticipated and well worth the expense. I have Aerial Acoustics 10-T mark 2 speakers and Bryston 7B-ST monoblock amps and Bryston preamp. I also listen with a couple pair of headphones through a Bryston BHA-1 amp.
“Welcome to the party pal”.
Hello, Very quick question: can DS “Junior” connect AirLens by I2S interface? Thanks.
I had a PS audio Directstream Mk 1 with Bridge
I started by replacing the Bridge with an Airlens, removing the Bridge from the Directstream Mk 1.
There was a dramatic improvement in sound quality with this change, namely bass response, imaging and separation of instruments ie sense of air.
I am now using Directstream Mk 2 with Airlens.
I am quite happy with the results when streaming Qobuz and Tidal.
I followed same upgrade path and heard improvements with both air lens and Direct Stream II.
I have no regrets about spending the $$ to do them.
I just got the airlens to front end the DS sr mk1 dac. Using the Revelation Audio Labs Prophecy i2s cable. Was using the bridge2 with the high budget AQ Ethernet cable. I agree with hunter02, sq is much better, each instrument is more isolated, meaning if I wanted to listen to the bass guitar, I can follow it easier. Same goes for cymbal work, piano, everything. I shouldn’t have waited.
