Any Jessica Carson recordings?

I recently purchased the reference SACD “The Audiophile’s Guide: The Stereo” and took a liking to track 10 “Center Channel and soundstage width” because it features a piece composed and sung by Jessica Carson entitled “What I Am”. This is the ensemble version on the disc, with Jessica singing lead vocals and playing a Fender Rhodes electric piano, and accompanied by steel-string guitar, upright bass, and backup vocals – simply done and I think quite beautiful!

Jessica Carson is (or was at the time this piece was recorded) the director of Octave Records so I don’t know if she considers herself a professional musician but she has a good voice and apparently has written several pieces worthy of putting on a record. Does anyone know if she has an album out on Octave? I did a search through the Octave catalog and came up empty handed.

Her band is Clandestine Amigo, and they have an album, Temporary Circumstances out on Octave Records. She also has Pinnacle, also on Octave, and Things Worth Remembering.

I have all three of her Octave recordings, and Things Worth Remembering is easily my favorite. Jessica Carson has a wonderfully expressive voice and a distinctive style, in my opinion.

Thanks! My search was obviously done hastily because I didn’t made the connection between Jessica Carson and Clandestine Amigo. It looks like “What I am” is not on any of the three but nevertheless three good albums to choose from!

She is also on a couple of the Audiophile Masters and Art of HiFi series,

A wonderful person with a fabulous voice!

Indeed. One of the few artists on Octave that I regularly listen too.

I really respect her! She left to have a baby and didn’t return. I don’t know why. But she helped me often and gave me lyrics to her songs. I owe her.

Jessica was great and a wonderful performer and composer. She’s now with 3 children and we miss her.

Please send her some love if/when you catch up with her.

I enjoyed chatting with her about new Octave releases and pestering her about releasing new music of her own.

She was a great PSA asset.

Wishing her well with raising her family – a noble profession of its own…
