It went out shortly after I posted this. Hopeful about the replacement…or at least The Replacements. ![]()
Another FedEx story. There is a package that I directed to be held at a FedEx office that was due to arrive Friday (here in Vegas). Until the Wednesday night before, it was still on track to be picked up Friday evening. Thursday night comes along and there’s an apparent delay in AZ. Friday, Saturday and Sunday pass and it’s still in Glendale. I’m a patient man so I allow a couple of extra days.
Last night I called the store and was transferred to Customer Service (apparently the tracking apparatus is different between the branches and their Customer Service department). I mentioned that my package seemed hung up in Glendale for 5 days and hasn’t moved/updated. The lady on the phone starts rambling on about it being in Oxnard, CA - from the East Coast mind you. I said, “Oxnard CA, as in on-the-other-side-of-Las-Vegas Oxnard CA?”
She said she’s going to file a trace and someone would get back to me tomorrow. Maybe 30 minutes later I get a call telling me not to worry and “Your package has not been lost.” The kind lady follows up with, “I will contact the carrier and have you updated as soon as possible.” This morning I checked the status and it’s supposedly going to be delivered this evening. We’ll see.
More fun with FedEx! Expecting a shipment from Jazz Center and FedEx is showing a delivery scheduled today between 8:45am and 2:10pm. FedEx is also showing the package is in Minneapolis as of 9:01am today. Not sure how they are going to get it from Minneapolis to Seattle within 7 hours!
My DSD did finally arrive that evening after my poking and prodding and the initial 5-day delay. Today, the BHK Pre is scheduled to arrive. Again, we’ll see. I get the sense that someone there isn’t intentionally tampering with my high fidelity musical needs, but my frustrations exist nonetheless.
Earlier this week I was expecting a delivery. It was scheduled and had been tracking on the truck for delivery before noon. Noon came and went, no delivery. 3 PM or so Amazon was delivering and coincidentally there was a FedEx truck across the street. I waited for the driver to walk back from a few houses away. As they got in the truck it was clear they were leaving. I ran down to the truck and asked if they had a package for me. They didn’t think so, but looked on their handheld. Low and behold the package showed up in the handheld and they dug around in the truck and retrieved it. The driver was grateful I asked because the package itself wasn’t showing up in the delivery routing. I asked what would have happened and they said that at the end of the day, it would have gone back to the depot for “issue resolution” even though my address was clearly on the package.
Software glitch? Interesting that it gets loaded on the truck but the delivery driver did not have it listed in the delivery routing. Maybe it’s a new world when we rely too much on software instead of gray matter. Fortunately the driver was able to accommodate you.
I asked about packages on the truck but not in the delivery routing. Answer: all the time, hence “issue resolution”.
How do these people sleep at night?
They don’t; they sleep during the day ![]()
Blood suckers!
Well—did the miracle happen? Or is it gonna be a L o n g weekend?
Just checked the tracking number, and I now have the dreaded “pending” with a red exclamation point. Apparently a, “weather delay”. I’m hoping to receive it maybe this summer…
Out here on the dry side, whenever we see a package get to the FedEx Troutdale, OR, depot we know it will very likely be delayed.
Troutdale is where packages go to die.
My SGCD is supposed to come back from Boulder tomorrow (Sunday). I haven’t received any updates since the initial shipping notice. If I don’t get any new notices today, I’ll look it up and see if it’s still on schedule.
Given enough notice, I like to have these things redirected to the local FedEx shop for pickup anyway, in case it would otherwise arrive when I’m not home. My wife has impaired mobility these days (waiting on hip surgery), so she has trouble getting to the door before whoever is there gives up and goes away.
Our closest FedEx distribution center is 45 miles away and not in a direction normally traveled so it isn’t easy to schedule a trip for pickup.
I have not had any problems with Fedex because I always ask for fast shipping, express, I believe it is called.Normally it takes 5 days to my house.Once I ordered a package from USA via economy and it took almost two months to get here in Finland. Lesson learned, pay for it or wait forever.
Not sure if that is the case with most of others problems with delayed Fedex but works for me.
Once upon a time, I ordered headphones amp for AKG K1000 from Germany and asked them to use DHL but forgot to say DHL express. They shipped it DHL economy. ![]()
