Anyone here converted their rooms to live end dead end rooms?

Today, I replaced the large rug with two smaller ones. More of the tiled floor area is exposed now. The change was dramatic. Less bass, overall sharper music, and a mild loss of some spatial info.

Good morning Serhan, I’m no acoustician…

Did the bass go from defined tighter to loose and flabby or simply
disappear ?

Maybe a standing wave has come into play unexpectedly?

Sharper music…better defined with more snap crack and pop?

Spatial loss…?

Could it be perhaps that :

You might need to readjust your speakers positioning, space from wall
behind speakers, toe in or even adjusting you listening position…

Another part of the journey has loomed up…

Happy trails and journeying

Good morning David,

You’re better than me in this regard

Speakers were not moved at all. The zone behind them and to their sides has always been live. Each is about 8’ from the side wall. The listening chair was not moved either. Bass lost both power and definition. Music has a shrill, and I feel less comfortable listening to at the same level I used to! Now, I have a live area behind the listening chair, and another to the right of the listening chair, in addition to the pre-existing one behind the speakers! I need to treat two areas to bring things back to where they were!

Enjoy the weekend.

Serhan…

Don’t move your speaker distancing from the wall yet…

Fwiw…try toeing in to a point about 18" you can vary this to taste behind your listening position, tilt them back slightly may 1-2 deg… that is if you haven’t done this already…

Somehow I think you may be closer to solution than you realize…

Keep us posted please…

Best wishes friend

Hey Serhan…

How is your listening room and speaker placement going?

Hello David,

I added a couple of small rugs to two bare spots, and things have improved. Next, I will work on the toe-in. Tilt comes last.
