10-4. My 500 wpm mono blocks are currently plugged into and old Monster Power Signature AVS 2000 “voltage stabilizer” and have been for years. Maybe I’ll try the direct connection approach and “see what I can hear”.
Thank you.

The discussion after “it’s system dependent” on is not relevant or helpful to the subject of the thread. And even “system dependent” is off the mark because 1) cables tend to maintain their basic character across systems, and 2) the subject here is “listener dependent” preferences. So please…
And your point is…?
Yes but when you place a cable in a different setup it will result in different things.
Placing a cable in a system that was already dull or one that was already bright will result in different outcomes.
A power cable influence will generate a character yes but it is highly dependent on the speakers, speaker cables, and interconnects. An AQ Thunder in a Shunyata cabled system will not sound the same as a Thunder in an AQ system or Iconoclast system.
Also did you not read the statements that power plant vs wall significantly changed the sound with the same power cable? I’m not sure how you can claim a power cable has a fixed absolute signature?
Like any other product, cable designers have specific sound goals in mind that are aimed to be maintained across systems. Within that design, there will be obviously be some (limited) variation in the degree to which they are expressed, depending on the context, i.e., system. If you disagree, then this thread is not for you.
Now, please, the subject of this thread is a specific listener’s sound preferences, clearly articulated, and if specific suggestions are welcome. Thanks,
@highstream Cables are designed to work as a full loom.
No power cables to my knowledge are designed to work in synergy with regenerators besides the former AC series.
In my system the combination of power cables and speaker cables is huge.
The Zu Event power cable sounded best with Zu Mission speaker cable while Zu Event power cable with Zu Event speaker cable was extremely dull.
I have a completely different signature depending on the speaker cable used…
AQ Thunder with Zu Mission speaker cable is very dynamic and alive while Thunder with Event speaker cable is lifeless and dull.
I will be testing out AQ speaker cables next.
Yet, many people do happily use other power cords than the AC-12 with their regenerators and have for years, and not all in full looms.
Yes, that there can be a different sound signature by changing one cable is the explicit starting point of this thread. I’m looking for power cord ideas in a modest price range that are both alive – tho not row A – and modestly warm, while in some other characteristics might improve on the AC-12, at least in one location. I gave an example of one that didn’t, and asked about AQ’s. Perhaps my search will prove a futile endeavor, but why not try? Without the need for speaker cables, my system is highly dependent on power cords (and IC’s).
Your experiences are very interesting, re. the Zu cables.
I have a Mission power cable that is good way beyond the price. I’m using it on one of my guitar amps with great results.
Have you found any combination that suits the Event speaker cables? Do you use them at all? Are they Event Mk2?
Thanks
