Audiophile Masters Volume V

Volume V is now my new favorite. Excellently recorded and beautiful music! Sounds so much like analog with not a trace of digital artifacts in the recordings. I don’t know how Octave did it, but it is truly a remarkable achievement, this recording is so musical.

Mine should have been here yesterday, but USPS decided to drive it up and down the same 300 mile stretch of highway a couple of times.

They’re probably listening to it right now in their truck’s cd player and have forgotten all about your delivery. You gonna love this one, track 7 is a standout for me.

Volume V and Dreams of You are both on the way.

Thanks. Our goal is that each release of the Audiophile Masters is better than the last one. As we hone our skills and improve our technology, each and every one should be better and better!

What is an example of digital artifacts in a recording ?

The sibilance mainly on voices that sounds harsh and distorted that is overcooked on digital, the hardness of the tone I find only with digital, and the unnatural textures of the instruments I also hear with digital. I didn’t notice any of that in Volume V, it sounds just like I’m playing a record from my turntable. All I know is I enjoy listening to the music more with this new recording.

Hoping track 5 is a sign a ‘Many Mountains’ release may be in the future?

If I have one bone to pick with Audiophile Masters number V it’s the three reissues of other songs I own already on the other Octave releases. I haven’t ordered it yet and that’s probably the reason why.

Mine arrived 4 hours ago, and I’m on my second listen (the first was while I was cooking) but I’m gonna have to agree with you @waymanchen11 . Although I have not heard analogue music in about 15 years!
Percussion and female voices sound detailed yet warm. The soundstage is wider and deeper than most other recordings and the separation of instruments/performers is amazing. Even the 3 tracks that I already own have me smiling. Foxfeather sounds very detailed.
Bravo Octave Records.

Thanks, Palouse! This helps keep us on track.

I don’t use a disc spinner anymore but the digital files sound superb.
It is really unbelievable until you hear what a well though out high quality recording can sound like.

It’s really just a mix tape but so well done that it is very satisfying to listen to.
Hey it’s only the cost of 5 or 6 gallons of gasoline.

I posted that I wasn’t buying because I already owned 3 of the Octave recordings on the Audiophile Master’s V. That lasted about 3 days and I bought it. No regrets! Like most have posted every recording gets better and better. For me on my system the best track is Lowland track 9! I think I would of paid $29 for that track alone! Are we going to see a Taylor Sims Kyle Donovan album? Please! The sound on the on all the tracks are reference caliber and if anything I may of posted deterred anyone from buying this album (I doubt it But if I did I apologize). Buy it!!

I have a modded Oppo 203 if you haven’t read on other posts and I currently have a PST on loan. Normally I get the Octave releases play them once on the Oppo and take the DSD off the data disc and play thru my Auralic G2. They sound identical the Oppo SACD vs Auralic DSD file. So I’ll rarely play the disc again. The SACD’s thrive on the PST I won’t go as far as saying it blows the DSD file away or the Oppo but it is much more enjoyable. The Octave recordings and the PST are made for each other! So Audiophile Masters 5 yes!! PST yes!!!
