maybe they need a pipona…

Best wishes

I was there on and off from 1985 to 1995 having to do short and long term relocating. Seeing your from Chicago Imo’s is ani Chicago deep dish. I remember 10 buck St Louis Blues tickets in the barn, Taking Amighetti subs to Old Cardinal stadium and five dollar bleacher seat and getting cheap beers in both venues. Ted Drews frozen custard. Going to AB for tours and extra free hospitality In outdoor tent being there for hours smelling the beechwood aging. Taking Amtrak from Kirkwood to Herman MO for Octoberfest. Being at Strassenfest drinking beers from big little beer buckets. Also boating on Mississippi North of St Charles having boat in the Marina. VP Fair with free riverfront concerts and the air shows . Never without something to do there.

All favorites…along with Sculpture Park, a great (free) Zoo, the Magic House, and the Science Center for the kids.

PS

And what about St. Patrick’s day? For St. Louis denizens, it was like Mardi Gras, Christmas and (pick your other favorite holiday) all rolled into one.

:man_shrugging:

All trips down memory lane. To this day Graduate courses at Washington University attending Courses in the Old 1904 Worlds Fair buildings in classes with less than ten people remain a favorite memory and a favorite place for education that with such personalized instruction.

Before the boutique pizzas took hold , you asked for a - “house slice or Sicilian”…
Nowadays its, “vegan, vegie, gluten free, dairy free, or with pineapple and ham”…

John Travolta style, two folded slices in one hand, a gallon of paint in the other…

I still remember my dry cleaning bill after a pizza dinner. I only wear shorts for pizza after that.

I mentioned that I was very disappointed by the sound of the Wilson Alexia V/Audio Research monoblocks at Axpona. To my ears they sounded tinny, lifeless, without the smooth, rich, refined body that I associate with the Wilson house sound.
Yesterday, I got to hear a completely different sound coming from a pair of Alexia V’s powered by a D’Agostino stereo amp and phono stage, VPI HW40 with a My Sonic Labs cartridge, DCS Bartok, full loom of Shunyata Omega cables, Shunyata 6000T.
I really wish they weren’t so far beyond what I’m willing to spend.

You probably already know, Ron - Wilsons do particularly well with D-Agostino gear. :slightly_smiling_face:

I suspect that the amp was just one small piece of the puzzle.

Was there a Pre in the system?

Yes. D’Agostino somethingorother

That is a kickin’ system.

It was a “listen for hours” sound.

I just realized that I am in trouble. VTL Pre is on the way, I am going to replace the Bartók with a Rossini, and I am actively looking to replace the 625 S2 with a pair of Rowland 735’s. Fun or Folly?

The question is, do you really need to replace the amp and the dac? And would you really downsize later after achieving perfection?

Can’t slow down, eh?

Yes, I think I will downsize. I would like to have one last big rig and then as I ease into retirement downsize.

I am a planner, so far this is the plan.

My plan is to NOT downsize. My thinking is that once I retire, my system will be set without having to change anything, except for the occasional replacement tubes, and new music that i purchase.
And will be able to enjoy the system i worked for.

My plan is downsizing too, but it just does not agree with the reality.
