If you talk to uncle Wally at Underwood Hi Fi, he probably can give you a even bigger discount. I got my WW Platinum 8’s from him at a pretty good discount. He sells Wywires also. I got the used pair from The Cable Company’s used cable section at 58% off new price. I often go there and Audiogon to try out interesting new stuff. With Cable Company, if I don’t like the used cable, I can return it for credit on another one.
Usually best source component gets the best cables. You could always experiment and try between the pre and amp to see if that improves your sound.
Happy listening!
The Wywires Diamond XLR’s between my preamp and power amp made such an impressive improvement to my system that I just ordered another one for my turntable to phono stage. It literally made some recordings that sounded OK now sounds unbelievable!! I have to admit the Vahalla2 USB I recently put in helped a bit also. Whoever said wires don’t matter don’t know what they’re missing.
Today I got my Wywires Diamond RCA to replace my WireWorld Platinum Eclipse 7 between the turntable and phono preamp and you guessed it, it’s another WOW moment!! So now I have the Wywires XLR between preamp and power amp and the WW Platinum 8 XLR is between Phono stage and preamp. That’s the next wire I will replace on a later date.
My brother came over and brought his WW Platinum Eclipse 8 RCA for comparison. While the 8 is a little richer and more detail than the 7, the Wywires is in another league. It makes the WW’s sound a bit dry and flat. My brother says when Doug McLeod shouts into the mike, it has the force and excitement that a a bit obscured with the WW cables. The Wywires also has more air and the harmonica sounds less dry. The plucking of the guitar has the twang and snap that loses a bit of liveness with the WW. I’m sure there are even better cables out there, and can even make my system sound even better, but for now I’m very happy with these cables.
My brother already ordered one of these Wywires Diamond and probably get more when he gets it and hears it in his system to replace his WW Platinum 8’s.
