Dear all,
Do you feel real difference between balanced/unbalanced connection of M700 to preamp?
No difference on my system (SGCD + M700 to LINN keilidh and pair of JL Audio D110 subs with source from PST + DSDAC) , but since I have power amp placed very close to my speaker to have shortest speaker cable, I use balanced cable from pre amp to power amp.
I can’t remember ever hearing of a downside to going balanced.
Except for the cost of replacing all those single ended cables. But hey what’s money,
But, for the same price a balanced XLR cable might handle the noise better than single ended RCA cable.
(Besides, I can DYI a very decent Mogami XLR cable, save even more $$
How To Make a $50 Pair Of High End XLR Cables – PS Audio )
Both my M700s and now the M1200s sound better hooked up balanced. It could be my Levinson preamp, it could be the balanced cables are better or it could be the balanced connection. I have no way of know. I just know it’s better in my system. You should be able to find a nice set of balanced cables for $200.
My question is because I have idea to connect M700 to preamp of Luxman L-590 integrated. This preamp has RCA output only
Then connect the components single-ended, do not worry about it, and enjoy your system.
You can buy a single ended to balance cable but I don’t see how there would be any benefit to that.
