There is a pair of Balanced Audio Technology VK150se Monoblocs for sale nearby…. worth a listen? I currently love my BHK 250 but was wondering…. any thoughts?
If you can go listen to them for sure but make note of how much heat they put out especially in the climate you live in. Don’t think I could take it but it may not bother you
The female vocal and soundstage are killers, and they will sound much better than BHK 250 IMO.
However, I am not too sure you will like the heat in HI weather, plus the humidity may not be kind to these old boards inside. I had VK150 for five years but did not want to keep replacing 24 tubes every three years. They may cost more than your amp nowadays. ![]()
I agree with some others here. They sound great, in some ways slightly better than the BHK 250, and produce considerable heat. I tend to like specialty tubes, but my tubed components only have 2 to 4 tubes. The VK 150 may be practical if you only have a few listening sessions per week, like a total of 6 hours. Keep a very quiet fan and extra tubes on hand. For each mono amp.
decided not to listen to the monblocs - am wary of the tubes and the heat in this environment… pretty sure they sound great but also believe PSA equipment compliments so likely to move in the direction of their new amps when am ready….
