I’m not proud—so I’ll take a whack at it:
The new series of cables are frequency specific, so one either needs a bi-wireable speaker or one needs to access their crossover.
And so, I’m out. I’m not going anywhere near my crossover.
I use the word ‘pretty’ as a positive modifier, which I suppose isn’t universal… My Grandparents wee southern and I get a lot of colloquialisms from them.
Sort of like “that thing is pretty ugly”?
Well, yeah - I get that. Just sorta half (not) kidding that in the audiophile realm, “pretty good” don’t cut it. “Good”…maybe. Preferably at least “really good”, especially when attached to the end of kilobuck cables. No reflection on you or Icono.
Please see @BobBJC comment. You can use series 2

The series I and II can be used full range. But the series one is more optimized at the low end as a 10AWG.
The series II is a 12.5 AWG and uses smaller 28 AWG to tune the upper range.
OK, back, I was getting a broken tooth looked at!
The series I is made to work and not waste the tech getting the job done. The series II had to be more complex to hit the numbers. Those are measured and non negotiable, same as the series I. This makes the loom for bi-cable as cheapo as we can yet still offer the maximum performance.
As far as a series I “upgrade” it is the series II used full range. The bass is a SLIGHT DCR advantage to the series I and an audition will be needed to make the final decision. But in an optimum bi-wire system, use the series I in the bass and II in the mid treble, by design.
If you use the series II in both places with bi-cable, we love to take your money but only when we sell a benefit to you. The series II won’t help the low-end response and costs too much for a gain you won’t get with the higher 12.5 verses 10 AWG DCR is all. Spend less on the series I for the bass and gain MORE in that frequency range.

Audition it is! Which to me means I should wait until all three varieties are available to do so.
I should have pricing within the next few days. Should be a great value.
Galen, if I could rep this post 1,000 times, I would.
So, in my case if I like OFE best (when it shows up) in Series II variety, does this mean you’d perceive no real benefit in swapping out my Series I OFE on the lower end with Series II - that keeping the Series I in that location would be better?
Time is one of those things that is not always good to waste. It may be some time before all 3-variants are available. SPTPC is next.
Bob,
Thanks. I look forward to that. Series 2 jumper set wide spade and locking Banana in both TPC and SPTPC plus the series 2 speaker cable in wide spade and locking bananas both coppers. 4 foot, 5 foot and 6 foot lengths. Will the series 2 jumper be a weave for pos and negative for 2jumpers or will they stay separate for 4 total needed?
Galen, @rower30
Would there be any performance gains on shorter length? I have to measure my woofer cable. I can’t recall if I bought 4 or 5 foot length. I would thing Vp is lower for shorter. I know when I Demo’d series 1. Same copper shorter I got a nice boost in sound from 10 foot to shorter cable.
Guess what just rolled into the shop
The BEST sounding floor standing, full range speakers for $5K you ever heard ??

Not sure I understand the question, I’m sorry.
But if you like the series I OFE that you have, yes, keep it in the bass region where Vp changes are minimal and the lower DCR is a benefit. Use the series II audition to select the upper range. Don’t make assumptions about the copper, with the series II changes that all changes, too.
Best,
Galen
All variables are “per foot” so yes, shorter is always better on cable EXCEPT high frequency RF designs that can have excessive back reflections that need to be attenuated with LENGTH. Fiber Optics also needs to meet back reflection issues and attenuation. Too much signal is bad for digital.
Don’t get too carried away, leave some room for changes.

Galen
Hi Vmax,
We will use the jumpers from the series II as they move the proper frequencies the best and do not need to be 10 AWG. Each jumper is ONE bare polarity. They would be too stiff jacketed. The change is likely arguably minor but it all adds in analog. We just get worse as we go like it or not. We move one step at a time when we can.
Best,
Galen
So what do i select, series one or two, if I have non-biwire speakers? If I already have your speaker cables and my speakers are NOT bi-wire, do I stop there?
Ron,
Just removing your binding post jumpers is “accessing your cross-over” so don’t try to take your speakers apart if that option isn’t provided!
The series I is already better than most all cables out there for any price, so don’t worry that you don’t have to spend more on an expensive option! Amy way you sluice it it is more cable. If you spend more, it is nice to get a better option than 2X series I in parallel for not a big price jump for bi-cable customers.
Best,
Galen
