Looking for recommendation for XLR connections for BHK Pre to M1200 and direct steam DAC to BHK
Thank You
You can demo Iconoclast’s.
Generally speaking knowing you budget will provide for more focused answers from Forum Participants. That said, on a budget BlueJean Cables has decent XLRs. I have tried AudioSensibility and was satisfied with them, moved on to Iconoclast. Moving up price wise there are AudioQuest Dragons, which some prefer. I have also used and still own Sraightwire XLRs, which are better than the Beldens, but bettered by the Iconoclasts. The downside of the Iconoclast XLRs is they are very stiff.
thx will check out
There’s a pretty active topic here on the forum. Both the designer of the cables (Galen Gareis) and Sales (Bob Howard) are on the forum frequently.
Here’s the topic. It’s really long.
I recently made comparisons between AQ top of the new line and Iconoclast UPOCC, I have too BHK Pre and M1200s, you can find a thread here on the forum. Conclusion: my taste suggested Iconoclast, mainly for engagement and neutralness.
Bob may take care of your requests in an exquisite way, try them in your system/room and let your ears judge.
It is hard to beat the Belden lineup from bottom to top. I have their CAT5 and CAT6 cables, Blue Jeans speaker cables, Iconoclast speaker cables, BAV XLR’s, Iconoclast XLR’s.
As you move up the line in cost the construction and materials used allow for an increase in SQ if your components are capable. There are certainly a lot of other brands at every price level but my money is still with Belden / Iconoclast.
I am a new user of Beldon SPTPC speaker cables. I’m pretty impressed. Would love to re-fit all interconnects with Beldon but that might be a pricey proposition. However in answer to your question, I have had great results with Heimdall II and AQ Carbon.
I love Cardas Clear XLRs between the BHK and M1200s…I have them between the DSD and the BHK, as well. That said, I wouldn’t hesitate to do a ICONOCLAST in there as others have said.
On the budget end, the Grimm TPR XLR walks all over the Canare/Mogami/homebrew builds. A friend recommended them, so I’ve got a pair between the CD and SGCD now and I don’t like them as much as my usual Audeince Conductor, but they’re no slouch. I like them better than the Kimber Hero. The differences are subtle. The Kimber XS XLRs are nice… I’ve got a set between the SGCD and M700 set.
I use Kimber Kable Hero xlrs between my dac and preamp, preamp and amp, npc and preamp. They are nuetral and produce wide, deep, dynamic performance.
@gd7288 Moderately priced, i have been running AnalysisPlus Xlrs between BHK Pree and M1200s, also between DSD and BHK Pre with great success. Speakers are B&W801, Home Audio Store - Analysis Plus High-End Cables plus Scott at https://www.suprahifi.com/ will send an assortment of cables to compare. We compared to MIT and a few others, AnalysisPlus Solo Crystal Oval Xlrs and power cables gave us great smooth, and articulate sound within our budget. I have a pair of Audioquest Water Xlrs that perform well too, but prefer the AP in our system. good luck on the demos.
Thx man ill take your advice
Thsnks
Another budget option are the Pangea Audio Premier SE XLR’s. These are very good cables.
Thx for all the suggestions gonna pull trigger on some cables today.
Any thoughts on which connection to spend more $$$ on?
Ds dac>bhk pre or bhk pre>m1200’s.?
Thanks again
Since you’re asking for opinions, I strongly recommend that all those connections be the same.
If you can afford them, you won’t do better than Iconoclast.
Thank you Ron
Appreciate it
Depending on you wallet, if you can’t afford to do both, I’d start with DAC to Pre.
Thanks
Gonna bite the bullet and buy the mid level options
Thanks for the guidance
My Iconoclast gen 2’s came today
I cant be sure but things sound a smidge better over my Audioqest Mackenzie RCA’s but im a guy that believes cables dont improve sound (i know i know then why spend the $$$$?).
Despite all that im thinking things might sound “brighter” etc.
Thanks for suggesting Iconoclast I had never heard of them before this
