I have a small hybrid amp that’s 35 watts and it can actually drive my apogee duetta 2 speakers to a decent volume. The amp actually uses KT150 tubes on the input stage, I know they are power tubes but those big tubes seem to lend to a bigger bolder sound somehow.
I like the BHK Pre with the M1200’s and their tube input stages.
Am ok if PS Audio ends up offering both amps with tubes and amps without tubes.
There is, I think, appeal for both.
It’s my opinion that tubes belong in the preamp not the power amp.
Why would you believe that?
The ability to fine tune and improve the already good sound of the BHK amps with different input tubes is a major feature imo. Hopefully the sound quality of replacements will be such that one will not feel the need to improve or fine tune sound what so ever.
