I figured a trim in ring would help. The other key is getting the wrap not to tight. And not two complete full turns. It would be curious if turning ring alters sound and which of the tree conductor legs needs to be by single layer and the other two by a double layer of absorber.
I spent about an hour this am doing more listening. The effect with P20and the Dragon HC 3M absorber tuning ring is present at all of the listening position in the room. I am convinced it is noise floor it is clearly one of those space opening improvements such naturalness and ease. It was a jump akin to what the whisper elite added to the router LPS. My CD rig is too basic but streaming likely is helped more being most noisy.
A ring for each leg of Dragon? That creates more opportunities to fine tune the sound, and it makes sense because the ring now only covers 1/3 of the area of each leg. If you try it one day, I will be very interested in knowing the result.
Although I will need to get another 3M 7050 sheet to use on both Dragon and Anticable.
I may save you some trouble. I have a double layer ring on the Anticable Lev. 3 PC. I cut it and wrapped each leg in the same location. The streaming sound became a bit muddy and heavy. I need to change it back to the original condition.
Do you mean this sounded better than your original wrapping? I guess I will wait until you find the best combination before I try it. Darn, I hope I have an extra strip left for this mod.
It did not work on Anticables, but Dragon is an entirely different animal.
It is one ring circles 3 cables. Zoom in. I am saying it is not a complete double wrap of all three. That is my best sounding one. When I wrapped a single ring of complete double thickness of smaller diameter of the bunch. Was mot as good s a larger diameter that did not double up thickness completely. .
Got it! Thatâs my conclusion as well. I have one big ring over three conduits (a bit over single layer) on both Anticable and Dragon too. The individual ring over each leg on the Anticable did not sound good.
Hi,
On your advice, I ordered a Whisper Ellite with Furutech NCF connectors. According to Duncan it should exceed the Audioquest Dragon.
Unfortunately, I wonât be able to make a comparison because I donât have an Audioquest Dragon.
The Ellite will replace a Furutech DPS4.1 cable with the same connectors.
The Whisper will be between a P20 and a DC Blocker (in France in the cities there is a little âdirect currentâ in the electrical network which has an impact on the operation of the transformers). I will make a comparison between the Whisper and the Furutech.
I have used the 3M sheet m on the P20, it works great and the fuse has been changed to the latest Audio Magic which is excellent.
Regarding 3M rings, what are its dimensions (width), number of turn, location (IEC)?
The Whisper Elite is a great choice. Yes it can outperform the AQ Dragon. The absorber to use on the Elite is buy a sheet of AB7050HF. Take and cut a 2inch by 8.25 strip. Leave adhesive backing on. Wrap the Elite cable with the strip in a ring two wraps near male plug end. Adjust to one index finger length from rear of backshell. Tune in increments to sound you prefer. Closer to plug more detail. Away from plug more PRaT. Please share sound impressions you experience!
I like the purple SR fuse better than AM in my P20. Both are great choices. Thanks for your interest s in my tweaks. Theyare not for everyone but can improve sound to most people tastes.
Thank you for the explanations and thank you for sharing your tweaks.
As soon as I receive the Ellite I make a return.
Concerning the fuses it is the Audio Magic Masterpiece M-1 Beeswax Fuse. But I use Synergistic purple in the ampsâŚ
Sounds like AM maybe going graphene like the SR purple. I might bite an run against the purple SR. I still have a regular fuse in a LPS. I could repurpose the loser fuse. Thanks for the awareness. I am surprised @waymanchen11 has not tried this.
Introducing the new Masterpiece M-1 fuse
The Audio Magic Masterpiece M-1 Beeswax fuse has been in development for over a year and finally meets Audio Magicâs criteria for sonic excellence and provides a very noticeable improvement over any other fuse Audio Magic has developed in the past. The M-1 is the most labor intensive fuse in their line up by far. The M-1 is now filled with the new Black Diamond fill within the fuse as well as Bees Wax also incorporating Audio Magicâs I-core technology and a proprietary coating on the outside of the fuse making this the quietest fuse ever!
What does this mean sonically? Much blacker back ground, wider and deeper sound stage, better detail, better dynamics, smoother, and very musical. The M-1 will without question transform your system in to something magical.Due to the complexity of the fuse lead time can be longer than in the past.
I am biting on this one to see if there is a fuse $300 or less that can overthrow the SR Purple. I ordered a M-1 Beeswax fuse for my P20 just to see how it compares with the SR Purple. The SR Purple is so good that I really have my doubts it can be beaten. Weâll see.
Okay I bid into this poker game too. Just waiting for my frequent flyer price. 2 week custom made. It has to work on a LPS or the P20. They all take high amp fuses.
How many hours burnin for the M-1 Masterpiece fuse is appropriate? The new fuse is about the cost of chicken wing dinner these inflation days. So music is more nourishing and worth the fuse gamble.
Are you one of the reviewers on The Audiomagic site.
Yeah its a long one like the purple fuse. Must be the Black Diamond is code word for Graphene used internal and external like the purple. Diamonds are formed carbon as is Graphene.
Graphene is a single layer (monolayer) of carbon atoms , tightly bound in a hexagonal honeycomb lattice. It is an allotrope of carbon in the form of a plane of sp2-bonded atoms with a molecular bond length of 0.142 nanometres.
How many hours did you have on the fuse when you reviewed?
