Cable Sutra - Whisper Power Cord, Common Ground Cables

Excellent that your experience has been so positive. It sounds like the Furutech connector option is a must! I still wish to thank you for mentioning the AM M-1 fuse and helping start the fuse stir and discovery for the rest of the forum. Are you still going to try the AB7050 HF abs tweak on the P20 and whisper elite?

Sharing is the function of a forum… and it’s more you to thank for discovering the 3M sheet.
I haven’t tried the 3M ring yet, I’m waiting to get used to the new sound to test it.

If the Furutech connectors are the rhodium variant, you’ll likely want to give them at least 500 hours before tweaking.

That’s my experience as well.

it’s the rhodium version… so I’m halfway through. But I think that the progression is not so important anymore.

I tested the 3M ring on the Elite cable with Furutech NCF connectors.
The effect is not significant unlike the effect on the P20 or on a transformer of a player, preamplifier or amp.
Furutech NCF connectors therefore have a real impact on sound.
The Elite cable has finished its run-in and it has kept all its promises. It far exceeds my Furutech DPS 4.1 which is nevertheless reputed to be one of the best cables.
Normally at the beginning of September (holidays and business trips) I will test the cumulative effect of 2 Elite cables on my system…

Interesting to hear after the NCF connectors connectors the need for absorber tuning ring on a whisper elite with Duncan’s stock connectors has been greatly diminished. Duncan mentioned in a pod cast how much tuning ring added to a whisper Elite without NCF upgrade.

Your findings make me want to try a Whisper Elite with upgraded Furatech NCF connectors. The NCF apparently provides a similar if not better effect.

I would love to have a test and run it against the new Sorbothane vibration damping tweak.

Duncan does make World Class Power cables. I know how much I enjoy my Whispers.

Please update me wit your second Whisper Elite trial.

Fred75 … I’ve just ordered today Furutech DSP 4.1 power cable for my pre-amp.
It should be a good upgrade over my much cheaper power cord I currently have.
I have the Rhodium NCF connectors on my current power cord which I will transfer to the DSP 4.1
I think your Elite cable would be around 5 times as expensive as the Furutech cable?

Not 4 to 5 times more expensive. The Elite cable is very competitive from 1.5 meters.
The Furutech DPS is a very good cable, however the Elite is a step above.
It is at the level of the best cables but at a price that is still affordable and not stratospheric.

Received my Furutech DSP 4.1 cable yesterday, put my NCF connectors on it and I’ve about 5 hours usage with my pre-amp.
Even with only 5 hours it’s better than the previous power cord, better bass, blacker background and more stable image.
I’ve moved the ā€˜old’ power cord to now drive a 5 channel power amp which is used in my home theatre system, which again is an improvement on it’s previous cable.
Very happy with the DSP 4.1 cable, although I’m sure it’s not up to the Elite standard.
Yours is driving your whole system via the P20, mine is just working with one component, my pre-amp.
BTW … can you remember what the DSP4.1 burn in period is? I’m assuming around 300 hours?

In fact, the Furutech NCF connectors take the longest to break in.
At least 2 weeks.
Good luck with the waiting…

I bought the bare cable.
I transferred the NCF plugs from my old power cord so they would have a good few hours on them already, so leads me back to my query … how many hours for the DSP 4.1 to reach optimum performance?

I don’t know because I had assembled my cable from new components.
But I think at least, 4 to 5 days.
But I could be wrong.

My experience with 4.1 and FI-50 NCF is around 5-7 days before it settles in. But, I’ve stopped putting cables in my system ā€œrawā€ a while back. I bought a Watt Box power strip that has a removeable cord on the inlet. I use it for my primary compute workstation. Whenever I build a new cable I put it on the Watt Box of a week before I move it to my audio system. When I do this the effect is normally immediate and there’s little to no change after installation.

Do you use the tuning ring on Whisper Elite at all? I am trying out the base Whisper and I wonder if the ring works better on the base than Elite.

I need tuning ring on my elite. Listen to Duncans’ pod cast where he talked about it on an elite without Furatech he was elated until his amp fuse blew. . The Furatech connector one differs per Fred not sure if he tried sorbothane and tuning ring.

I will try with the ring on base model, so it has its best performance. I hope I will receive Dragon Constant by next week and it needs a week of heavy break-in. So, Whisper will serve PST first.

I may post my thoughts on its performance on PST first without the Dragon.

Good evening,
I have a Whispers Elite with Furutech NCF connectors. According to Ducan these connectors provide a more general and more marked bass.
Like him I tested the adjustment ring and with the Furutech connectors it does not have a great effect.
The cable is on a P20.
I haven’t compared it to the Audioquest Dragon but I ordered a second Elite for my CD player.
I’m curious to read your comparison.

Thanks for the information, and here in California we just past 11am :grinning: but I had my music on for a few hours already (still at low volume because my daughter is working at home during summer break from college). When I receive both PCs I can blast my system at night at least.

In France, it is 9 p.m.
I’m on vacation in the south… this will continue with a tour for my work in the region, so my wife and my children have a long vacation… My second Elite cable will be connected at the very end of the month. August and will benefit from a long break-in period by Duncan. I could test the synergy of many Elite cables in a system. But before I could read your comparison.
