Congratulations! That’s a fantastic milestone.
Cheers. That’s the second one we’ve paid off. Just a little discipline early brings great rewards. Like a TT2…
Okay, so the Whisper has spent a good amount of time on the Innuos Zen MK3 streamer, and now it’s back on the Isotek powerboard. I much prefer it there. It seems as the tremendous benefit given to one component (Zen) is far outweighed by the moderate benefit given to every component via the Whisper/powerboard combo.
This tallies with the received wisdom of getting your very best power cable between the wall and the rest of the system. I’ve started saving for three more. This hobby is awesome.

Hi,
First excuse me for my bad English because in France the teaching of foreign languages is not very effective.
Then I read with great interest your comments on the Whispers cables which look very good. What difference do you hear between the “Classic” and the “Elite” version ? Is the latter as good as the Audioquest Dragon on the P20 ?
Thank you in advance for your answers.
Musically,
Fred
Welcome, Fred!
Welcome, Fred
It’s a good question and I’d like to know the answer, too!

Okay I finally took some time to compare Dragon HC to Whisper elite. I needed to pull whisper Elite from my LPS running the Netgear router. I replaced it with a Whisper.
In order to make the regular whisper sound like it performed closeto what the Whisper Elite was doing for my digital stream. I had to add two, two inch 3M absorber AB 7050 HF tuning ring tweaks to get the performance close almost a perfect match. Two pieces got me to the soundfield depth, tone and still gave me extended highs.
Well the whisper elite versus Dragon HC. Their is no mistake to signature differing. . Dragon s more dynamic. And wider soundstage. Whisper Elite is bit narrower sound stage just like the whisper to Dragon but more realistic and live sounding better tone. More relaxed. It might be better than using it on my router but sound is similar to effects it impacts to digital sources.
The swaps back and force are a pain needing total system reboot. But even with a 10 minute gap differences are apparent. I will need to run Whisper Elite long term on P20 and with more music genres and wider selection. Then see if I want to keep Dragon or use elite elsewhere. I still need to try the Elite on theDS where Duncan likes them best.
Where does the Stealth stand in these comparisons?
Properly tuned of course…
I intend to try it. I will have to swap in the SR cable or my Wire World on my Preamp and then reacclimatize my ears. The Stealth is just untouchable on the preamp. So it goes it will be nice to trial it powering whole system.
I do not see a price list for the Whisper Elite online, Dragon source I can get some discount. I don’t know, but at this level it may come down to personal preference. I do like the Dragon HC a lot. Thanks for spending the time doing the comparison. I know how tedious this can be.
I still need to do some more comparisons to Dragon. I hope to send my three whispers back to Duncan after more comparisons for his high frequency ground burn in. I was surprised that tuning ring in middle of regular Whisper an one near male end brought it closer to elite sound. I am curious how much closer they move towards Elite with HF ground burn in.
Duncan can provide pricing by his outlook email. since it is his new configuration.
The tuning ring in the middle of Whisper brings it close to Elite level, really? That sounds like a great bargain to me! I have half a sheet left that is enough to do 4 rings, I think.
Of course, I am interested in hearing your additional evaluation of a more detailed review of Dragon vs Elite. Dragon is still on top of my list. The good thing is I am not in a hurry anymore now that the stock market crash has brought me back to earth.
I still have two unused rings. I should put them in the middle of the two Whispers powering Monoblocks. Perhaps that makes things even better. I am getting pretty good doing adjustments with those rings. I can get real close without even sitting down to sweet spot. Then it is just fine tuning.
I’m sorry if I missed it earlier in the thread but does Duncan use the audiodharma Cable Cooker for the ground burn-in or does he use something proprietary? Just curious, thanks.
He has a custom setup he has assembled. It addresses RF and EMI frequencies he looks to dissipate.
Thanks.
Please, a consensus:
Is the Whisper the giant killer bargain to choose even at its relatively high cost?
By “the” I mean the very best that kind of money can buy?
I’m seeing a whole sea of extravagant superlatives in this thread.
It depends what factors you want looks or sound or both , what is important to you, and what you are willing to spend , and the resolving capabilities of your system and or ears.
Consensus in audio is never possible.
Is there something better and or different a person may like, Yes there is usually iBy themselves the Whispers sound great and are very tweakable with absorber homemade tuning rings. They offer details without punishing ones ears and ease with tonality.
I can say that 1m costs the same as what the Isotek Optimum 2m is here in Australia. A friend has been kind enough to bring his around fir me and I’ve had it fir four days now (the best I own from Isotek is the Elite).
I can say that my Whisper outperforms the Optimum in my system. It brings calm and richness at high volumes, a generally larger stage and richer tonal colours. For me, the two aspects of the Whisper I enjoy most are it’s utter consistency at any dynamic, and the sense of ease it brings at all times. Like the old analogue vs digital argument, but in a power cable.
