Chris, what's that scale you're playing?

On the Aspen loudspeaker set up disc, Track 4, Room Bass Response.

What’s that scale? I’m trying to identify the frequency/notes that boom in my room.

Thanks

That’s a C major scale with C1 being the lowest note, though a double bass doesn’t acoustically support the fundamental much at ~32 Hz and it’s mostly the second or third harmonic.

If you want to objectively figure out the exact frequency, I would get a USB measurement mic for $75 (like the Minidsp or parts express dayton audio), and measure at and around your main listening position. It’s probably the highest bang-for-the-buck investment in the quality of your system as it will allow you to pinpoint the exact issues in the bass.

Thanks Chris,

I do have a mini DSP mic. I also have REW but have not really learned how to use it correctly…. I’ll work on it

The GIK Acoustics website has a video on setting up and measuring with REW to help you evaluate acoustics of a room. Of course it’s aimed at helping GIK evaluate your room so they can sell you the treatments. All free up to buying treatments. Here’s a link. REW has much more capabilities but this will get your feet wet.

Great, thanks for the info.
