Paul, no need to worry about the early release info. You always work hard to maintain honest and open communications. Sometimes things slip…and this one’s in a good way.
T
I do not need an official date. And why good would that do Paul already blew this one.
I want mine before there is a parts shortage.
And do have to remind you if the amp. I am going down south about June for the summer and I would like to sell the big KRELL amps down there and put your new ones. So that is two amps too.
I have two P 10 s crated ready to go there.
In fact you have my address. Down there you shipped my fuses there by accident.
Well joking asside I really am ready ASAP
And thanks for posting the new DAC. You seem elated about it. So I am sure it’s something special to own
What next transport
The beauty of the FPGA is that parts shortages are much rarer, plus if the original FPGA ever becomes obsolete one can just program a newer one to do the same thing. So ‘parts obsolescence’ becomes a thing of the past because the real work is in the programming of the FPGA, not of the chip itself.

Yes, I’m ready too.
streets still works said: It may not need it. Remember DSD happens digitally but at a much higher frequency, so the data from the FPGA on the digital board is sent digitally to the analog board for time alignment and low-pass-filtering immediately adjacent to the output connectors. So the EMI shield may not be needed.
Thanks guys!
Can some one photo shop Paul in the chair getting blown away like in the advertisement
That should be the new logo for the new DAC.
Al
OK, now begs the question… for those who want to upgrade their current DAC MK II to the Directsream DAC, will the boards for the new DAC (3) fit properly in the various versions of the PWD chassis? My PWD was an original MK I Beta Version that I updated in the field with one of the MK II version boards to fit my specific application and not all of the different MK II boards would fit my original Beta PWD chassis.
Odd

@alekz
Funny and yes good enough. Is that glen in drag next to Paul. LOL
al.
@streets still works - LOL
- I noticed the exact same thing. What’s funny is that based on Pauls post of “listening to DSD” was the first time I ever logged into Instagram, but I noticed in the bottom left of the photo the insides of the “PWD” looking very different than what we have.
While I am disappointed that the details came from a third party, I won’t hold Paul responsible for this slip up. Worse things have happened, in fact Wglenn incurred one of them. Ever since I was a wee child I have been waiting for trade sanctions between Earth and Mars to be removed and the Illudium Q-36 Explosive Space Modulator to be finally available here. Wglenn, you big tease, got me going that the time had finally come. But no, you were just fooling. Well sir, I will not soon forget that. In fact a certain rabbit and I have engaged two “assistants”, let’s call them Spirit and Opportunity, actively searching, oops sorry, negotiating with the Martians for productions rights to the Illudium Q-36 Explosive Space Modulator. When we finally succeed in gaining those rights we have now solved the dilemma of whom, err, where to test the pre-production units. I would strongly suggest you (and that Fudd character) get into the witness protection program to buy yourself some time. Hah, revenge will be sweet!

Here's the lowdown. Upgrade path, certainly. Won't be cheap, probably around $3K. It involves replacing every board inside of the PWD, new analog, new digital, new power supply. All that remains is the front panel display board. So, it's a big upgrade. We'll also have a program to trade in your PWD's (probably $2K) if you'd rather get a new DirectStream instead.

Are those HE 6 headphones in the pics. Wow those headphones wind up in special places.
What amp was that they were plugged into if I may ask.

I am pretty sure they are the hifimAn HE6. I have them too. I wonder what amp that was though as we headphone people are looking for New idea to use .
I used my aragons on mine and they sound really good.
