DirectStream pricing, trade-ups and options

tony22 said: Alekz, when I spoke with Mayoura Friday she indicated (no surprise) she had been buried with the response.

No wonder... ;)

I believe that many of us are anxious to get one of these in our hands. =P~

tony22 said: . . . for those of us taking the DIY option that PSA would not necessarily be offering any sort of return policy

PSA has an excellent track record of taking care of its customers. I cannot speak to specific hypotheticals, but Paul and crew will address whatever problems you may encounter.

tony22 said: . . . many of us are considering this option sight unheard as it were. All that said it feels like I'm flying a little blind this time.

Absolutely. It's part of the fun.

While this appeals to me - I enjoy risk in all forms - it is not for everybody.

As a practical matter, nothing is going to happen all that quickly. You may want to wait, read the early reports of early adopters, and then decide.

@magicknow No, there is no better sensor. It is true that the DirectStream will have better IR performance but that’s because we’ve carved out a slot in the front panel and placed a small light pipe that focuses the IR beam better. So we won’t be able to upgrade that part.

Paul McGowan said: So we won't be able to upgrade that part.

Anyway, this part does not cost $1,000 plus shipping :D

@tony22 Hi Tony. I think this is a valid concern and not sure exactly what the policy would be. For me, the choice is so obvious there isn’t a person on the planet that could possibly think the PWD II is better in any way, shape or form than DirectStream - it’s like falling off a cliff it’s so obvious - but that’s me and I have heard it, lived with it and understand it. And I am the excitable type. No one has ever accused me of being modest.

While I am pretty sure we won’t be in an easy position to make it policy but I am sure if someone bought a kit, installed it and hated it we’d not want them to own it. I personally wouldn’t have any problem if someone bought it directly from us, giving a full refund as long as the boards were returned and we could send them out again as another kit. If you buy it from a dealer, then you’d have to work the return out through the dealer, but I am guessing most of them would be ok with it, they’re a pretty fair bunch. I just didn’t want to speak for them. I can only speak to what we would do if purchased directly.

But having said that, there’s not a shred of doubt in my mind that you’ll never look back. Really. It’s truly amazing.

@elk Exactly, thanks Elk. The last thing we want is unhappy customers spending good hard cash on what we recommend and then feeling badly about it. We’d take care of you.

Paul McGowan said: then you'd have to work the return out through the dealer, but I am guessing most of them would be ok with it,

Definitely not in NL and I bet in the whole EU. Bought is bought. If the package is opened, there's no way back.

As my old girlfriend from Singelgebied would say “anything is negotiable”. >:)

Well, Mayoura said she’d try to get back to me on Monday.

You guys are a class act.

Paul,

I guess that you missed my post above on this thread.

I am trying to order a DirectStream via your website with trade of my PWD MKII, but still see nothing there how to order or sign up for one. You stated stated that orders could be placed on your website or we could sign up starting tomorrow, March 1st which is today.

How can I order a DirectStream now directly from PS Audio? I want to get on the waiting list as soon as possible. Please advise.

Thanks and appreciated

Bob

@nordicbob

hi

I would send Mayoura@psaudio.com an email and perhaps follow it up in a couple of days with a phone call.

Probably the best route till they get the web site adjusted.

With all the excitement they probably forgot.

go figure. :">

We should have the webpage and ordering page up on Sunday, Monday at the latest. For now we’re taking preorders over the phone. Sorry we weren’t quicker. Response and preorders are going briskly.

@nordicbob Sorry sir, won’t be available till Sunday, Monday at the latest. I’ll post here in the forums when it’s available.

Paul McGowan said: Response and preorders are going briskly.

Excellent!

This must be gratifying, especially after all the hard work.

Thanks so much Paul. I missed this thread that you started on Friday until after you closed so it was my bad.

Didn’t mean to rush you guys at PS audio, but some of us audiophiles need our fix ASAP

I bet my money that the DirectStream will be a home run and those of us lucky enough to get one are going to love it :x

PS Audio and Mayoura are indeed a class act. I have been a customer of theirs for years. Whenever I had a question or needed service they were always there to help.

Recently when the display on one of my P10s suddenly froze on a Friday afternoon, I called PS Audio. Mayoura was there and walked me for a fix over the phone.

@nordicbob

+1, and her “musical” voice has the timbre and tone of an Angel. This alone could fix the equipment.

Will there be a DirectStream in any of the rooms at Axpona so I can audition before committing to the upgrade?

Yes indeed, and she is very patient with equipment klutzes like me.
