DirectStream pricing, trade-ups and options

Will the DirectStream DAC accept DSD as an input?

@pmc7027 Yes.

Hi

I purchased my kit this morning :)] and now waiting in line for May release of kits :smiley:

@pmc7027 Absolutely!

Paul, for the DIY option do the old boards get returned to PSA?

Paul answers, yes the old boards are ours, but is there a program to "renew" the old boards in a new box for example and build a new PWD we could sell on used market?
Does old MarkII boards be re-usable by a PWD MarkI owner wanting to upgrade to MarkII?

Sorry if these question have already been answered.

Do not expect a put-the-old-stuff-in-a-new-box alternative from PSA. Such projects will be completely DIY.

Once certainly can sell the old MKII boards to another user.

@elk I understood you can choose an alternative to the DIY option which would be to send back your PWD to PSA and let them install DirectStream in it?

I wouldn’t expect PSA to do it, but I hope somebody puts together a kit so that we can re-assemble our old PWD parts into a usable DAC. It would be great for a second system, and would be one way to recoup more of our initial investment!

@patr

Yes, this is an option to buying the upgrade kit.

Yes, It is exactly what I thought about. A "renew" DAC with old boards built in a simplified box without the screen for exemple. It could sound very good.

Anyone notice that the price for a new PWD MKII is now $1995.00 and the Kit is $2995.00 … so someone in theory could buy the kit and the dac and save a grand?

@erikm

God still works “in mysterious ways”.

Also the DS shows “from 3995” without clear explanation, the picture includes the Bridge, AND shows 12 in stock.

I think someone did some late night updates and without a proof-reader. :-SS

Good marketing and shows PS Audio looking after there existing customers :-*

A MKII for $2,000 is a wonderful price.

Upgrading one with a DirectStream kit is a nice option.

Count me in on the upgrade club guys… I should have the first kit to land in Oz.

=D>

I hear you guys, but I can’t wait for the kit.

I need it earlier B-) =P~

As one receiving the kit, I look forward to reading peoples impressions of the sound compared to the Perfect Wave DAC.

Thread for this would be great

Target arrival for my tester is March 10th.

Please pray.

praying all the time, i’m keen to hear user comments ASAP :slight_smile:
