Directstream Regulator question

I do not want to take it apart somehow…i just to want to know,if someone did replaced it with better diodes and that is knowing, where they are…

Yes the diodes are placed on the bottom of the pcb

Aha,cool, thank you for information, now i can get my technician and replace diodes with better ones…why did they put it on the bottom,i am asking myself?

Replace with which diode, what are you thinking about?
Maybe the BYV96E, if the current spec. is sufficient.

I have SIC Diodes 2A 600V…they aren’t working in my preamplifier,so probably i will not replace it…

I think they are TO-220 types.
I don’t think there’s enough room for that.

Original diodes are SMD,SIC are,as you mentioned…

yes that’s right.
I googled on SIC Diodes 2A 600V and saw TO-220

SMD diodes come in different package types/sizes. You will have to be careful about selection, since the mounting pads are stagnant and it’s not like through-hole components where you can just bend the leads to fit.

I assume your 600V rating is reverse voltage rating?

Yes,these aren’t proper for my preamplifer,it is not working in it…

Yes,i will not mount it,they aren’t working in my preamplifier…

I don’t know,i was thinking,they would be okay,but,they arent proper type,they are power diodes,but,it is not working anyway…

Are you sure they are mounted in the correct orientation? All diodes are directional. In the case of creating a full wave rectifier using 4 diodes, they all have to be facing the right way or it will not work at minimum, and worse case, will damage the circuit by allowing the wrong polarity (±) through to the wrong part of the circuit.

Yes,qualified technician did mounted it,so in preamplifier, they are properly oriented, but, not working…no signal is coming from selector further…so,we are searching for solution, will mount original diodes back to see,if they will work…as they are not working,i will not place it in my Direct Stream DAC…

Yes it is relative easy to measure that.

Hi Ted…I did upgraded my stock transformers in Direct Stream DAC with Edcor XS4400 transformers and i am interested, how much burn in time is needed for these,if you know perhaps? The sound now is not wide and open, but it was harsh and small after one day listening…How much digital cable does need burn-in time too…Thank you…

The transformers need a very long time (high hundreds of hours), but they should be pretty good right at the beginning. Perhaps someone who has done the upgrade can comment. Most digital cables need a few hundred hours.

The sound is far from pretty good,so,it must be in burn-in period for one month,or more, you think? I will wait on comments,if there is anyone in similar position with upgrading transformers…Yours were first day playing optimally,or,you did waiting with burn-in period too?

Leave it powered and not in sleep mode on for a week or so and check back. I am not sure if it needs to be playing music or can just be powered on to break them in.
